Can't understand
I may take some flak for this partially negative thread, but for crying out loud someone has to put it out there. I had watched the OSS race from television the other day, and am very glad to see boats on TV even if it is on some odd channel, It consumed my mind for the day as i had failed to program the VCR and was counting on my wife to get it taped. She did and life can go on. The coverage some had stated was good, I will just say it was better than nothing, My complaints .....the commentary. I know I may be a nobody and have no right speaking about this cause i haven't put in my time yet, but Martin Sanborn for crying out loud.....I assume he is compensated for his work, why not do a good job. Let alone how long it took to get this to TV someone did some editing, maybe he could figure out Who drives and who throttles. It just drives me nuts watching Jenni get out of the left side of a phantom, right next to her name on side of the boat with the little throttles graphic, and then he says something about a girl driving with her husband throttling. Ocean City. IF you are going to get the 4 and 5 class boats all mixed up ( clearly identified with numbers on the boats ) and make screwed up assumptions of laps ran and speeds etc. You need more people doing that handing you information. You can't try and get it all done yourself. Or leave that part out and tell us who is battling who, not how fast the wrong boat went.

I have to agree. I thought the same thing. But to the average fan watching TV at 3pm on a Monday, they have no clue who's who. and probably dont care either. Personally, I feel the production was lacking. You cant cover a single offshore event and all the classes in a half hour show . I know it costs $ to put on a show, but I would rather there was no show than one with several flaws.

I caught the throttles too. But I'm only with team "Yahoo ATV".

Dean..Congrats on the Yahoo sponsorship!!!!
this going to be the new graffix?? http://l.yimg.com/a/i/ww/beta/y3.gif |
Yahoo is what hell yells as he is spinning out of control.
Wahoo is the name of the boat. I'll call Martin for you. To clear this up. Smitty |
I think they do it on purpose.

Calling FSN (FOX Sports National) an odd channel is unfair. I agree that the show could have been better. Fitting everything into a half hour show with all the classes is impossible.
In defense of Martin, he had less than a day to do the voiceover due to time constraints to air the show in June instead of November like last year's show. We felt it would be beneficial to both OSS and the upcoming venues to air the episodes sooner than later. This was not a show put together by FOX with an unlimited budget. The upcoming show from Cumberland was put together in less than a week. I will take all the constructive criticism that is justified. However it appears there are other underlying issues with Martin which I may not be privy to. Thanks for watching the show and I hope you think the next one is better. It seems like the consensus is we can tolerate a mistake here and there, but when you are paying someone to represent your telecast, either give him more time to do the voice over so he can study the footage or find someone that has the time to review and report it accuratly. For your first telecast I was very pleased with the footage, good luck to you in your future telecasts. Trent |
If it has to do with racing boats its worth watching.Y'all need to quit your whining! Great job Mr.D and keep em comin.

Just bustin balls. Sanborn has always sucked ass at commentary. |
I havent gotten to see or hear it, however I have always been pleased with the talk offshore events.
|
Tivo Would be great..... is it really only $3.?
Talk Offshore- i listen to everyone that i can, ( unless i was there ) but still the info is ridiculously incorrect, I sat right behind em in key west and listened. When i said a strange channel, i mean it was way up there in the " i don't watch stuff there" category on my tv. and how many posts were on here about people that either couldn't find it or it wasn't offered in their market. And these are people that have been monitoring OSO to get info on when the show was on. |

I have always taken pride in making sure all the info is correct for the race however I dont always have the correct info. Allan has a very hard job trying to get all the informatio straight for the weekend for his own purposes let alone the broadcast. In the furture I will again try and make sure all my information is correct. Dean I will always know you as "Yahoo ATV":lolhit: |

Chris keep up the good work and Martin is definately the man for the job. Looking foward to seeing Lake Cumberland on Monday. |

Well whatever year it was or whatever they were on Radio or talk offshore, I sat behind em on the concrete wall right were you come into the harbor, Martin and Charlie. Mike i believe you do a great job, I don't know if you have the time but Spreading a little of your expertise onto the television shows would be great.
I would be glad to do that but deals get made before I get a phone call. Nothing against anyone at all because I try and get along with everybody but some people are just more connected then others. I am a really good back up guy for some people when they cannot make it or whatever. I would love to be able to help annouce whatever I can where ever I can. |
It takes some looking around to find that channel on direct tv,
That is in the area of channels that i do not visit, and there is 5 or 6 different FSN on there. I finally did a search for it on my phone and set it to record from there since i couldn't find it on the regular guide. It is great to see it on tv, i wish it was alot longer and i can't wait to see the Cumberland race. |
Channel #77 FSN, Verizon in Tampa Bay area
I'll watch today! :) |
