I was under the belief that they made more power in the low to mid range. This the reason they were used on the n/a supercat motors which spun up to 7500-7600RPM. These motors make big power up high but lack the low to mid punch. The y pipes helped in that area.

keep in mind that unless you are running NA Supercat motors at 7K+ rpm they may not have that same sound. They do sound cool though
