Will pulling the plate out of the riser help any? Colder T-stat?

There is an article from a builder that did a dyno test on this. They gained 7hp. I did it on my last boat and didnt notice much of a difference maybe a little bit in the sound of it.

yes 496 Mag HO the 425 HP EFI motor. Looking for easy cheap lol mods.
