Just when you think you have seen it all!!!!!
Very interesting idea!
The idea is good but if only 1 of those deploy and catch the water and throws you around sideways while your starting in the air it wont be pretty.
I've seen that before somewhere? .................. Still not sold on the approach ....................... Although it does start the dialog ........
At least someone is thinking. Might not be a perfect concept but it's a start.
Brings up some good questions.... 1. How big would those parachute/anchors need to be to overcome the force of the air piling up on the underside of a cat? 2. Once they hook how hard will it put the brakes on! Does the boat now go from a 30 degree up angle smashing back down into the water and possibly submarining? Again, don't get me wrong I am not ripping on the idea just trying to understand the concept a bit more! |
With offshore racing, how many times have you seen a boat "almost" go over and not actually go over ? I'm sure many times, like we all have. I would think that most racers, or anyone else, don't actually think they're going over until it's pretty much happened, or else they would have done some other maneuver to prevent it. When you go all out, things happen. If you don't want things to happen, then you don't go all out. I love the idea of better safety, but if it doesn't work instantly and automatically ( like an air-bag on a car ), then I don't believe it's any good. With that said, I hope somehow, someway, someone can make it work.

All I see is a nasty trip and stuff
Boat racers do it in canopies.
Make it where it breaks free.
Releases after it pulls x amount of pressure, enough to bring the nose down a little. Then you have stuff floating in the water. |
