Frustration has the best of me!!!!
I can't deal with another dead beat buyer! Holly cow, the amount of bad deals, tire kickers and blatant liars are killing me!
I don't know how people deal with this stuff. I guess thats why i have a garage full of old toys!!! |
I had one come for my fountain and while I was driving him back to the airport, he had his brother emailing me anonymously bad mouthing me and the boat. WTF? Should have dropped him off in Detroit! :angry-smiley-038:

Race it Chris, it will sell it , new class to help combine, very usable boat.
|
Tony, I'm out with the racing, can't do it anymore! Too disappointing! As far as the boat being usable I totally agree. How did you guys run this past weekend? Always great to see your boat, good luck this year!

Chris, I know your racing experience wasnt a good one, but its not uncommon to be steered into a direction that is either boring or "financially surprising". I am sure you fall into one or both. This past weekend (while dissapointing personally") was probably one of the best races Ive been to in a long time. The sight was fantastic and the adjustments and people ( STIHL) we had the pleasure to work with was equally fantastic and promising. If your boat was in Coaco it probably would of won. Trimming RPM and adding weight will allow us to be able to move more boats to the Class and improve competition. Any "true racer" wants the most competition he can get. Billy and Jay from WHM have always felt the same and were great to work with this weekend. Lowering the Rpm will drastically lower engine rebuild (one a year) costs and fuel costs ( possibly pump gas) to a point of affordabilty for a lot of people. Lastly with the reduction in speeds will make the boats very safe in the event of an accident. You probabaly have one of the safest ones out there Chris ,just need a pair of motors. Youve already spent 90% you need to go racing. I promise you 2nd time around would be much better.
PS -Should of listened to me the first time. ( Your the type of person we want in our class) |
Tony, I agree with you. The people themselves are awesome but even in a room filled to the brim with great people your going to have issues. Maybe from personality differences, historical issues, who knows what causes is! In fact, I remember when you let me run your boat in Patchoque the first year when I was thinking of racing a cat. How cool was that!
The money factor as we all know plays a part in our decissions but that really wasn't the main reason I was burnt. Honestly Tony, I do miss it! That's why last year I tried to make the season openner in Sunny Ises, FL. I spent over $100,000 probably closer to $125,000 in rebuilding, replacing and recomissioning the boat only to be disappointed again! At that point I made the decision to move on! That being said, this post was about the frustration in selling a boat! I'm sure I will see you soon and when I do we need to catch up my friend! All the best, Chris |
Done correctly , that would of ran Supercat motors for 2 years...Like I said" financially surprising"....
you need to call the right people, not the "blood suckers"....I ran a pair 5 races with one $7000 top end done..... too bad u would of had alot of fun...Still not too late... maybe u can borrow a couple of mine |
good luck on selling a canopied race boat. just get is prepped for storage.
the economy is still in the sh%tter, then there's far too many high end pleasure cats that are almost being given away. just look at the classifieds under skater. you need a certain person that has cash on hand and wants that type of boat. unfortunately there's only vultures out there right now. tony, what are you guys doing to make the catlite and SC be competive? as for motors, knock the compression down to 10 or under and keep rpm under 7000. you'd make it all season, or atleast 8 races. |
Exactly what we talkd about, comp at 10, In Coaco ran 7000 and added 200lbs to start , 8 races very realistic....your on the money my friend...thats why i told him to race it, and not cut the top off wont make any "dollar" sense. He just got caught up in some bad "advise". 125k to recom a boat what do u think about that?
|
Originally when I was considering dropping the power or removing the blowers to compete in the supercat division the topic that always surfaced was, the boat would have to be chopped apart to lighten the load. I didnt want to to do that to the boat. Then when the topic of leaving the blowers and lowering the horsepower was discussed, I ran into the same type of thing, if we happened to win a race against a non blower motor boat would there be any hard feelings? I truly don't know the answer to that! Also keeping In mind a set of supercat spec 750hp motors would run around 50-80k for the set, plus the rigging.
Skater dave, I agree with you about the people out there. I've had good action on the boat, even several purchase agreements. But the thing that kills me when you talk cash, negotiate based on cash and then people say "when my loan clears" that kills me. Bottom line is if people don't have the cash in hand, they shouldn't be trying or should I say dreaming about buying a boat! Even now,I have dropped the price to 250k turn key, I have received more calls over the past few days, but people still want to see what my bottom line is? Are they kidding? Parts alone or worth more! Anyway, if it sells it sells, if not it will sit. I feel that I have wasted enough time talking, dealing and answering questions for all of the dreamers, deadbeats or just losers out there (not saying everyone, the people I'm referring to I'm sure they know who they are!) I wonder if there is any law about extreme tire kicking? I wish! |
Welcome to boat sales... Even worse when its a race boat!
Looks like you have had a lil taste of the life of a "Boat Dealer'
Unfortunately these days I often sell complete turn key boats for less than the value of the parts, especially if its a limited use vessel like a Race boat.Don't get frustrated with the "hull thumpers",sooner or later someone will come along with the $$. Looks like SBI made a good attempt at combining the classes this weekend in Cocoa Beach..Great battle between JD Byrider and Stihl..Really even top end speeds but I think JD had some acceleration over Stihl..Reminded me of our race last year in Cocoa with Stihl..came down to the last 100 yards..That was some great racing! The Stihl guys and WHM are great for the sport and will do whatever is necessary to compete and equal out the class, sounds like JD Byrider is also with the program. Surprises me more racers dont run Cat lite, minimal maintenance with the 525 Mercs,#6 drives,89 octane fuel,130+mph speeds..all adds up to economical/safe/competitive racing!! Hopefully I will also be out there this year to give them some more competition!!! |
fboater sounds like you are a seasoned vetran...do i know u?
|
Tony,
I think Flboater is the person who raced in Loribu boat last year. Unless I am wrong. Chris |

Tony,
I raced back in 96-99 in Superstock then Cat Lite in 2000-2002 (Montano Motorsports..then Fastboats.com 35 Motion Cat.) The past 2 years ran the #33 Loriblu 40 MTI.Had some great races against Stihl once we got the boat dialed in. Met you a few times at various race venues over the years. I also own Fastboats Marine Group (Fastboats.com)down here in Pompano and North Miami location. Richie Powers also works for me here..We call him "7-11" 7 World and 11 National Chamionships..Nice to have a "old school' racer around for advice when you need it!! :) |
Tallest guy in the drivers meetings:thankyouthankyou:

Cut your losses and get in your Pantara. Just have fun at a fraction of the cost.

Ok thanks wasnt sure, I like that boat...I remember now . Rchie is a great guy watched him in early 90's , I' m sure he's a wealth of knowledge.
|
Randy,
I remember the first few races with the new boat , you guys had a lot of work a head of you. But when it was said and done you got it running awesome and had some tight battles with JR, and Grant. Tony this would be an awesome boat for the new SC class , the boat is fast thats for sure . |

Bring it's
|
Chris, Sounds like you boat is rigged and ready to go???? Why not bring it up to MI for the "tri-fecta" E. Tawas, St Clair and Port Huron. You may get some needed exposure and also it would be nice to see you and your team on the course. Not to mention it may spur some interest.
|
BK1425, its funny, because interest isn't my problem, its the interested parties having the cash to buy it. The funny thing is now we have a few people trying to bid against each other! WOW! how crazy is that? As far as MI, I would love to try and make it up but my days in that boat are long gone my friend.
|
Sad to hear. Great Team, Fantastic Boat! All the Best. Good Luck
|
Chris, I have been a fan of offshore racing for 32 years and I have made some great friends {including you!} I have never seen a race team start from the botton and go straight up to the top in his 2und year. Maybe the SS Class would have been the best class if you wanted to race a cat. Oh I heard over the weekend that you had a Birthday party! Hope it was great!
|
Hey Darren, long time no see, miss hanging around eastcoasts shop with you and your dad. How is everyone? As far as Racing, well my friend that is all up in the air as of right now. I'm looking at a few things but haven't made any decisions. Hope everything else is great, see you soon! Chris
|
unfortunatley old race boats don't bring much money these days and those with the cash will only buy them for the real value.
|
I'm not sure what "real valve" means but at 250' let's see. The drives are worth 50k the engines are worth 50k, what is a hull worth at rock bottom pricing 150k what about a mint condition Myco tilt trailer, I would say 40k and than trannies 4k gimbles at another 4 grand, so what is the boat parted out worth 300k. Look in the classified here on OSO. Even shaving 10% off 250 for a totally rigged ready to compete tomorrow boat......come on let's not be ridiculous, low balling offers are offensive!
|
Great looking boat sad to seee you selling it!
|
"Old race boats" dude, u be incorrect!
|
Bryan just buy it and lets go do big boat fun....
