New motors for X Cat
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater
Just seen a pic of the new Mercury 4 stroke motor for Xcat, anyone know what it is? |
Looks like a V8 something I heard 400hp
|
I recall them talking about using the Mercury 2.5/200XS ROS, Guess the boats had a difficult time running the speeds people wanted.. should not be a problem with 400hp per side now.
|
Wonder how long before they are available over here??
Can see a few smaller Skater re-rigs shortly thereafter..... |
I'd be suprised if it was a V8, I'd have thought it was more likely to be based on a current motor, possibly a 4 cylinder Verado?
|
6 cyl verado like 350 hp ,,thats what i was told
|
I was thinking v8 based on another forum looks like 4 coils are visible and I hear it supercharged around 350hp.

Steve, Glad you guys were alright after the crash. I was really looking forward to the redesigned Cat. The cockpit and bulkheads did their job thank goodness. Jolley

The new boat is a monster. Lee hit the nail on the head. If you look at the start of the 1st race we definitely accelerated ahead of the pack. We got stuck at the Wall and slowed a bit, but were gaining when we stuffed. Just one of those things. Nothing felt odd before it happened. Nothing dramatic just a rouge wave and under we went. Motors are at Diamond and the boat is beginning rehab. Lee and I should go to regab with it, but little chance of that. SQ |
