I recall them talking about using the Mercury 2.5/200XS ROS, Guess the boats had a difficult time running the speeds people wanted.. should not be a problem with 400hp per side now.

I'd be suprised if it was a V8, I'd have thought it was more likely to be based on a current motor, possibly a 4 cylinder Verado?

I was thinking v8 based on another forum looks like 4 coils are visible and I hear it supercharged around 350hp.

Anyone who thinks our boats are not running fast enough has never been in one. In the ocean. During a race. In whatever conditions Mother Nature decides to throw at us.

Steve, Glad you guys were alright after the crash. I was really looking forward to the redesigned Cat. The cockpit and bulkheads did their job thank goodness. Jolley

Thanks a lot. Surprising how many people have asked if this is it. Are you done? We are just getting started and possibly getting it right, righter anyway.

The new boat is a monster. Lee hit the nail on the head. If you look at the start of the 1st race we definitely accelerated ahead of the pack. We got stuck at the Wall and slowed a bit, but were gaining when we stuffed. Just one of those things. Nothing felt odd before it happened. Nothing dramatic just a rouge wave and under we went.

Motors are at Diamond and the boat is beginning rehab. Lee and I should go to regab with it, but little chance of that.
