donzi #1

heard that the donzi #1 national champions got a 15 minute pentalty at the worlds for using unapproved props. Imagine that atitle sponsor caught cheating. suppose that is how they won all of their races throughout the season?

BODYSHOT1 11-27-2002 11:08 AM

uh-oh...

..here we go...and on a Holiday too!
 ;)

HyperBaja 11-27-2002 11:18 AM

Or, maybe the boat was super pimp?

Oh wait, wrong thread, this is against Donzi....

rainmn 11-27-2002 11:27 AM

Hey, welcome to the board - great first post, too.

glassdave 11-27-2002 11:29 AM

didnt hear anything about that. . . i can say one thing though. i would not think donzi is the kind of company to blatantly cheat on somthing like that. a mistake or oversight yea, but to cheat . . i wouldnt think so. they build a hell of a boat, bottom line. on sunday their boat took a spin early in the race and made up lost ground real fast . i was impressed. i dont know . . i just cant imagine them cheating on somthing as obvious as props. im sure audacity will fill us in on the details and set the record straight.

mattyboy 11-27-2002 11:40 AM

here we go with the whine and cheese again!!!!
sour bitter grapes

audacity 11-27-2002 12:17 PM

i really have not heard this...we left to get back to donzi right after the race and then back to michigan...but as far as i can tell the results are final and they finished fourth...i do not see a 15 min penalty...

McGary911 11-27-2002 01:30 PM

MF35=FastFountain?

Montauk Crossbow 11-27-2002 02:48 PM

Fast Fountain ...Isn't that an oxymoron..

wilgie 11-27-2002 02:57 PM

Fast Fountain or slow Fountain...your call...but nevertheless smoked the Donzi at Key West.

Montauk Crossbow 11-27-2002 03:00 PM

at least somebodies smoking something

mf35 11-27-2002 03:55 PM

this info came from a reliable source.

throttleup 11-27-2002 04:02 PM

Name that Source!

audacity 11-27-2002 04:12 PM

so tell us why the APBA's results do not reflect this??

sauron 11-27-2002 05:03 PM

A 15 minute penalty, get real. Thats 1/4th of the race. Even if it happened how would you justify such a penalty.

Payton 11-27-2002 07:28 PM

It's intersting how every tiem someone comes on here with a bash of something or someone, they have an extremly low post count.

Think maybe they have been lurking for years and this issue finaly got them to join?

Or could it be that someone picks a new name everytime they want to flame someone. Like that gives them some credibility.

HyperBaja 11-27-2002 07:31 PM

One way to check if their on a LAN connection is through the IP addy, see what the # is now and check Fast Fountain...

Ron P 11-27-2002 10:04 PM

Same MO as Fast Fountain. No credibility, no facts, just bs accusations....from a reliable source. Who, Ben Kramer or Elvis?

audacity 11-28-2002 06:06 AM

i have no idea why this person is saying this....but let me give ya some insight....APBA only checks the winners props...not second and sure as hell not fourth....

like ron p said, if your going to make bold statement like that you should back it up!...

Scott B 11-28-2002 06:35 AM

Hmm, no mention of penalty anywhere but here.. Interesting.. BTW, we were there, no mention of penalties there either.

Donzi did spin, after being clipped for the second race in a row. Seems if ya cant beat em, hit em. Anyway, they came into the pits with a cracked gimble, yet still managed to pickup 6 places in the race..

Enjoy your turkey, turkey :p

Scott

glassdave 11-28-2002 09:47 AM

yea scott . . i was watching from the wall that day . . they were making up lost ground real quick . . .i didnt know that they were hit though . . that sux  . . did the boat that hit them recieve any penalty . . just curious . .

Someone has there Info backwards and wrong! Donzi did not get the penilty, They were hit in the rear at both races, The first race they were hit bad and limped around the course. The second race they were hit again but recovered, It looks like if you can't beat them (Hit Them) The penilty went against the other team. I didn't know Bravo 1 4 blade props were unaproved? Since when!
Next year there will even be more Zrs on the race field!

Congradulations Team Donzi A well deserved win!

Scott B 11-28-2002 10:47 AM

First race they were hit on the left rear corner by Speedwear, who I believe was penalized. No major damge to the boat. One motor lost an oil pressure sensor which put the motor into the limp home mode, so they limped to 4th place. Sunday the were hit and spun, cracking a gimble and putting them way behind at the start. The made up 6 places, but could not get any further up. Watching from the water, it looked like they needed 4 more laps to get to the front of the pack, but alas it wasn't going to happen. Still, an excellent finish to a stellar premier season.

Congratulations to Doug and Mike in the boat, Dave Pyc and Mark in the pits busting their ass's keeping everything perfect, and to Steve Simon and Lee Kimmel for building & sponsoring a great boat! Next year will be kickass, stay tuned for further developments, or visit the Miami Boat Show for the newest revelation (s) from Team Donzi!!

HyperBaja 11-28-2002 02:38 PM

Still saying GO DONZI!!

Audiofn 11-28-2002 02:40 PM

Seriously Tred I hate it when you butter it up and hold back :D:D Wish you has better luck down there this year.

Jon

Treadwellmotorsports 11-28-2002 02:44 PM

YA ME TO. THE BOAT WAS SMOKIN AND I HAD THE RACE BUT THE MOTOR JUST DID'NT WANT TO GO NO MORE.

TREADWELL

TwisterF2 11-28-2002 02:55 PM

Tred well put. You are correct about Donzi hitting Speedwear because we were next to Speedwear and had to chop the throttles when we saw Donzi taking the wrong line. We went to the outside and saw them run into Speedwear.

As for the props, you are 100% correct. I know this from not only other Factory II racers but also an official I spoke to.

Congratulations to Todd and Lance for taking the 2002 F2 Championship. Thanks again to you and your crew for staying up till 3am Saturday morning and helping us fix our boat to make sure we were able to race on Sunday

Treadwellmotorsports 11-28-2002 03:11 PM

well guy's i would have to say today is definatly thanksgiving.

ii am now enjoying my donzi turkey roast.

as the old wise man always said cheaters never prosper just get roasted :D :D :D :D

Treadwell,

You jumped in and cut to the chase as usuall, I didn't even have time to finish my popcorn. Well said.

Scott B 11-28-2002 07:36 PM

TW

1st) Interesting that Donzi's damage was on the left rear corner, yet you claim they hit someone else. Kind of hard to hit the rear of your boat against the bow of somebody else dont ya think.. Care to detail your accusations?

2nd) I also like the comment "and other things we couldnt find". Tech inspections are pretty thorough, and I would figure if you looked hard enough, you would find any improprieties (sp) during the inspection. Care to detail your accusations?

3rd) Nice comment "you guys suck". Class act

Maybe you can fill in the details here instead of tossing accusations around. It makes interesting fodder, maybe you could even be convincing.

F2-34thrttleman 11-28-2002 11:40 PM

Eric, what boat were you in?

TwisterF2 11-28-2002 11:41 PM

Scott

Trust me when I say Donzi hit Speedwear. I know this for a fact because I saw it up front and personal. Our boat was pulling up to Speedwear at the start of the race and saw Donzi coming in from our right with a hard angle to the left. We chopped the throttle and cut behind Donzi and went to the right to get to the outside. Had we not cut the throttle we would have been the boat that got hit.

I don't know what Donzi was thinking with the angle they were taking. The fleet was going one-way and Donzi another.

Treadwellmotorsports 11-29-2002 10:25 AM

i was in herbotts boat f2-80.

scott, no accusations just the truth. they hit speedwear. they were caught using illegal props. since they were using illegal props then it doesen't stop there. steve simon did not protest it for obvious reasons. so it's done and over with.

like i said before i am just pissed you can run all season bust your ass and get beat by people cheating and no consiquences.

First off, thanks for the clarification as to Wednesdays events. It’s always interesting to hear different perspectives on these things, I am curious to hear Team Donzi’s response, and will make a call next week to get one.

As a diehard Donzi FANatic, I am obviously biased. However and more importantly, as a lifetime offshore racing fan, the comments in this thread have really struck a nerve. As I am sure you are aware, offshore racing’s fan base, the loyal, paying fans like myself who support your sport, attend your functions, buy your products, has dropped dramatically in the past decade. Why? Lots of reasons. APBA, SBI and the myriad of organizations that have come and gone have totally screwed up racing as we know it. Today, the racing community is a fragmented mess. As a fan, it hurts to see it. It also makes it tough for us as fans to have any drive, any enthusiasm, any desire to spend our hard earned money to watch you guys n gals race, and support your (and our) chosen sport. Do I believe that this sport is how you make your living? No. But, if the fan base is not there, the purses are not there, the races go away. Do I want to see this? NO! But, do I want to see the kind of public back-stabbing, finger pointing and false accusations that go on in both APBA and SBI racing? NO! It’s a fact of life in any sport, there are some who will push the edge, and maybe go over it. But, this is why we have dope testing, we have tech inspections, we have medical exams. But, for any of you racers to just flat out accuse anyone of cheating without proof, to tell anyone who may actually disagree with them that we suck, well your just shooting yourself in the foot. We the paying fans will not take such abuse. We the paying fans will not stand for unfounded accusations without backup. We the paying fans will not tolerate this kind of childish *****ing and whining which threatens to destroy the very sport you participate in. If the system is broken, you the racers need to fix it. Claiming is an option, claim engines and parts. But, keep in mind, we the paying fans will not pay much longer.

audacity 11-29-2002 11:12 AM

Thanks Scott n Heidi....Have you read the other post yet?...please do.

Reckless32 11-29-2002 11:22 AM

Well it'll be interesting to hear the final results and even more interesting to hear the other accusations of cheating either validated or invalidated. Either way will make for some interesting follow up reading....

audacitychick 11-29-2002 12:21 PM

Well said

Scott and Heidi - You could not have said it better. A little perspective goes a long way. Racers could not be racers if there were no one to race with. With-being the operative word. Yes, we all want the checkered flag. The harder we work against each other...The harder we make it for the fans, the teams, and the sponsors. I have to admit that I was introduced to offshore by Joe. He isn't the only person who has kept me here. If you can believe it, the pits keep bringing me back. I have made a great deal of friends running around those pits throughout the weekends. I spend a fair amount of time with people other than my own team. I know if I needed a hammer I could borrow one and they wouldn't try to give me a rock. I must have only assumed that we all had the same goal. Competition is good for us.

bashing of members will not be tolerated. just a friendly reminder. :)

Ruben Bermudez 11-29-2002 03:26 PM

Does that mean...

Bashing of NON members will be tolerated?

I'd like to take this opportunity to bash all the cheating lying dirtbags we finished in front of this year.
They MUSTA been cheating, we were and didn't finish NEAR as far ahead of them as we shoulda.

You know who you are.
