The center seat converts to a full seat.I made the box for the middle because there were only 2 of us and it was nice storage. The top of the box is really the bottom seat. The metal box for the shiffter works great if you sit but has no use if you plan on standing.It is not connected to the bolster it bolts to the floor.

PS it would make a great bar stool or deck chair if you have a summer home! Maybe even in your waiting room if you have a buisness
