"In P4, John Coen loves the water at Point Pleasant and he's proven over and over that he builds a boat designed to run in big water like we had today. John builds SuperBoats in Long Island NY and today was their day as John and his son took on all comers.

Typhoon was ruling the seas in the beginning of the race, but after a wire harness failed it was clear they would rule nothing more than sponges later at the pits.

The Delicate Sound of Thunder had the race won except their kill switch leads kept falling off which of course shuts the engines off. Not a good thing when you're racing. They raced to the end but ended up in third behind SuperBoat and Wild Card who ran an incredibly competitive race.

Typhoon came in last. Dead last. Not even a podium spot. In fact, out of all the teams that crossed the starting line, the dogs from the pound where the only ones to NOT receive a trophy today.

The only thing awarded to Mad Dog and Hollywood today was a pair of sponges so they could wash all the other winners boats.

Woof woof.

Don't worry, they'll be back with a vengeance in a few weeks. It's very infrequent that these guys don't win."

”In P5, Sonic Boom - a new team to join the OPA ranks this year - ran a great race right to the end. But it was the high flying Panther and the even higher-flying Pantera - -Simply Awesome - - that took home the checkered flag.

Bruce and Paul really earned this one. It’s nice to see them finish in such good form and to stay in the boat for a change.”

Thank you, Ron!

If you are as confused as we are about some of the winners - - that's because everybody's won!

Jersey Boyz 5 - Rain 0 !!!!

Whereupon our gang retires to Crabby's to celebrate a typical wild Jersey Boyz race.

Or as our Ron Polli put it: "When others less daring souls may have looked at the forecast last night and said "Wadda u nuts" we went racing and had fun doing it."

We thank the crew of Turn 3 for their great hospitality.

For less amateurish photographs, go to http://www.njsportpics.com look under online ordering.

Look at http://www.njoffshore.com for some photos Ron took from Pace Boat 1.

If you really want to see the action, stop by http://www.freezeframevideo.net and order a DVD of the event for your personal viewing pleasure. Jeff of Freezeframe said this is the best rough water footage he's taken in years.

Great Job, Peconic & Ron.

If I new the coverage was to be this good I would have stayed home High & Dry, Just Kidding, For those of you that have never been to Pt. Pleasant for a race your really missing out, the best Ocean Racing site in the World I think, Big Sea's Big Air, Big Crowed and the Best Dam Party in Offshore Racing, It was great to see everyone this past weekend and I'll see ya in Savanna. Congratulations to the Coen's Your 2 for 2 at the PT.

Eddie, that means a lot coming from you. We all take great pride in our racing heritage at the Jersey Shore and from what I've seen, Point Pleasant is the best with Ocean City MD in close second. Key West is in a different league becuase of the harbor.

And thanks to the Storino family at Jenksons for sponsoring every race party. What could be better than a private party at Jenks?
