I have 3 NACA ducts on each side that feed into stainless ductwork. When the hatch is closed the flame arrestors actually sit inside the duct breathing nice cool air. The stainless "coffee cans" that the arrestors sit on work like a velocity stack.

Clean air is nice but that is NOT your problem!!! Look deeper and you will find something other than air.

For starters, try testing the boat with the hatches off the boat. See what your results are. If you have a similiar trouble, then you can rule out the amount of air theory......
