Hi, this is Randy here, the one who did the photography for the races. I understand what you guys are saying, and I agree with alot of it. I think either Ted or Keith can vouch for me already saying that we (that is me and CBPBA) need to work together to get the prices down. I'm not happy with where they are either. (On the other hand, though they are not $30.00 8x10s they are no worse than high school senior pictures and for them you have to go to the photographer.) The helicopter cost is all mine, and I make what I make by selling pictures. I had no idea how many boats would show up, and out of those boats, I have no idea who is interested in buying anyway. Pure speculation on my part ...I'll be happy if I break even for this event. Again, I want to work with CBPBA on the prices if I get to come back for the next time, but there's not much I can do about Cambridge.
If you find a picture of yourself you think you like, I can assure you the quality is there in the finished product, and I offer a complete money-back guarantee. Maybe if I didn't take so many pictures I could spend some time with each one, but at the moment I cannot. Not too many photographers fix up every shot unless there is a sale involved. I will work over the winter to see how I can automate some of the clean up to present a better looking proof--I think there are some things I can do better. Marie should have some pictures to attest to the quality, Augie will be getting some in a few days. I've already deleted the ones that I cannot clean up, so what is out there will look good in print, and I can send a copy for review and approval.
