Actually, I'm almost sure that our water taxi driver was just about to let me take over the helm, but some of the others in our group made him nervous and he had second thoughts.

Oui, for future use, when you have been in poison oak, ivy or sumac, bathe in Tide liquid laundry detergent. It will cut the oil off of your skin and prevent spreading. Wash your hair with it even. Then do your clothes and anything that may have the oil on it. This stuff doesn't spread by scratching, it is spread by the oil from the plant leaves still being on your skin. For some reason, Tide will get rid of it best. My son is highly allergic to the stuff and a pharmacist told us about using Tide. The kid won't stay out of the woods so we do this a lot in the summer. Works like a dream.
