Word is that Briochi and Reliable have collided in today's race. It appears that there is approximately a six foot gash in the back right side of the Briochi boat. No word at this time about Reliable. No word of any injuries at this time. Reliable did flip. More to follow as soon as I hear...anyone with more info, please let us know.

I was in the "Spirited Lady" Boat and I stopped breathing. That was a NASTY crash! Does anyone know if they are ok? I heard a few people say they are...
the other boat that spinned out, are they doing well?
As always the race was fantastic...Congrats to Billy, I knew you could do it!

I was there, at the Pier, at turns 1 and 2, and saw the entire collision as well. Reliable flipped, and landed upright, couldn't really see Brioschi with all the rooster tail spray, as this was the first lap and first turn. Brioschi veered off to the right and immediately started to sink from the rear.
Everyone is ok. Reliable was able to get back to the cranes without assistance, Brioschi had to be towed. I took some pics both in the water, and at the cranes of the boats, which I'll post when I get a chance. The gash in the Brioschi boat is quite major.
MikeJill, I think you are talking about the red Donzi boat with Lee Murray in it, in the first race? They spun out and ended up behind a lap, trying to play catch up the whole time. I know there was alot of protesting going on about race one, so I don't know the outcome. There were lots of people saying they should be DQ'd.
I'm sure that when all our racers make it back home safe and sound, they'll pop in and give us the word from the horses mouth.
Congrats to all the racers this weekend!

We talked to Jay Muller yesterday eve. He was mightily P.O.'d - mostly because they were in #2 position when in happened, and they had a very good chance to win.
Jay said: "We'll be ready for the Worlds!"
At the bar at the Vinoy, Billy Mauff was heard donating all his winnings to the repairs of Brioschi: "Take it, or I'll give it to charity," Billy threatened.
