Default Let's do something for our sport, not against it

And while we are doing it, let's do something for ourselves.

All teams going to the Worlds (whichever that may be,) quickly assemble a little press kit and send it out to the local media. Local media LOVES a local angle on World events. You will get a lot of coverage if you play that right.

Contents of the kit:

- A short ( 1 -2 paragraph) press release about your team preparing to become Wolrd Champions.

Add to that:

- A sheet on the driver

- A sheet of the throttleman

- A sheet on the boat

- A sheet on past wins

- A sheet on your sanctioning body

(Keep and update those sheets, you will be using them again and again in the future.)

- A picture of you and your boat.

Some papers will call you, some will ignore you. Cultivate those who call you. Call them from the Worlds, let them know how you are doing. The ones who ignore you now will read about you in that other paper. And they will be on the phone in no time at all.

This thread could turn into a collection of activities on what we can do do make us and our sport even more popular. Please contribute. The more poular each team gets, the more popular our sports gets.

This was a wonderful idea, Peconic!!
Hope some teams listened to your advice.

But how sad that this thread never went anywhere.

Good for you, Kitten. Next time, it will be an easier sell.

It wouldn't hurt to have a team profile printed up and available in the pits either. Heck, sometimes I can't even tell what brand boat it is, I can imagine how a casual fan must feel.

How about some of the teams having trading cards made up. I bet this would bring more interest from younger fans, building a future fan base.

I'll trade you a "WAZZUP" for a "TYPHOON" card!

Never used them. Do not know how much.
A sheet of paper with the pertinent info will be a cheaper start.

That's what I mean for in the pits, just a printed copy like a flyer. People could walk around in the pits pick up copies and then when they see or hear how a boat is performing, they could know something about it.
