Default Sad Thanksgiving

We had to put Mom in a nursing home yesterday. I just couldnt give her the care she needed anymore. Her mind is gone and has no idea who anybody is.

I know it's for her own safety but the guilt is just so bad to deal with. I know many of us will go through this and let me tell ya it's not an easy decision to make.

Sorry just had to tell someone. Thanks.

Joe

Joe,
let me say this...... It boils down to an issue of what is best for her as opposed to what you think that she would want. Her safety and well being are much more important than her perceived desire to be at home. The best that you can do is to visit regularly and often. This will ensure that she is happy and comfortable and that the staff knows that you will be an active part of her routine. If they see you and the rest of the family there alot she will always receive quality care.

Hey Joe,

I'm sorry to hear that it came to this, but you did the right thing. Your concience may bother you now, but just imagine how you would feel if you left her alone at home for just a minute and god forbid she fell or something. That would be worse. If you cant be there all the time to provide the care she needs, she must be somewhere that she can get it.

If you need someone to talk to, feel free to call.
