My hat is off to the SOB guys. You are what racing is about, you have a class to offer, found a sanctioning body (OPA) and are moving forward.
This will be a great class and potentially the backbone of offshore racing.
I know Ocke Mannerfelt (bat boats) has some boats for this class racing in Europe. With that being the case what an opportunity for Chris Reindl to expand the number of boats he has racing in the US.

As much as I would love to see your boats run with these guys, and the fact that a race class is already in place for your Bat Boats, by a Majority Vote so far on the rules proposal, the racers have opted not to allow any Wing Styled Boats, Tunnel Vees or Catamarans in this class.
They are going to try to keep it strictly 20ft 7"(21) to 24 ft conventional vee bottom with or without steps and or pads.
Should you have something in the works without the wings, by all means, bring it on!
These guys sound like they love competition!

Obviously with the class we run we enjoy tight racing. Where else have officials had to say they could not tell which one won a race because they were too close?
Worst case scenario is we run to fast and add more weight to slow us down. Let me know what they say, but it doesn't sound like they like competition to me.

Chris,
Please do not take this as a slap in the face or anything like that. Starting off fresh like this we are trying to keep everything as SIMPLE as possible. Being that the SOB's are not off the ground as of yet we do not want to discourage anyone thinking of running this class. Thus, a majority vote was won in favor of the terms that SharkeyMarine stated. The Bats do have a competitive edge over the V bottoms slated to be participating already.
I do want you to know that You and Your Bats were brought up and talked about numerously over the course of meetings and discussion so far. Once things are more slated either Sharkey or I will be in touch sometime after the holidays. You are a great business man and racer. I promise you that will be in touch with you to discuss things further in a professional manner.
I look forward to our future discussions after the Holidays.
Thank You,
Dennis P Tracey
