Default Marathon Race question

Where are the wetpits and hotpits??? I know that Sombrero is the host hotel but are there some really nice places to stay that are close?? Is Sombrero nice? I am taking the family and need to have something for them to see and do while still being close to the course.
Thanks,
Brett

Stay at the Faro Blaco hotel. The wet pits are right there at their marina and the race course is on the other side of the hotel. http://www.spottswood.com/html/blanc...mmodations.htm

Best place to watch is from the foot of the 7 mile bridge.

It's a real nice place to hold a boat race. Plus I understand from Lee Mills that he's got about 4 other catigories of APBA boats racing there. Most have never seen salt water before. He say's they'll be racing from 10 am to 4pm on both days.

Hopefully, I'll get to meet you there if the mag sends me to cover the event.

Brett,
Sombrero is fine... Nothing in Marathon is GREAT but. I have stayed at Sombrero many times and I REALLY like it. They have a nice pool, tiki bar (need I say more), docks, golf, kayaks, etc. I would think it a great place for the family. Hawks Cay is the nicest in the area but it's 20 minutes away, which isn't a bad drive but not close.
The wet pits "should" be at Fara Blanco and the dry pits will be at the Airport (south end). You'll have a blast, I love Marathon. Catch you later...

Ben

PS: I use to live to in Marathon, I love it there...

To the 4 new catigories. If it involves money, Get a receipt!! If it involves collecting GOOD luck.

Hey Brett

Let me know when you will be there !

I think the family would like a tour of the Carter {Nick and Aaron} compound!

Mark,
No unfortunately I will not be in Marathon, I have previous plans. And as I said, I love Marathon I'd love to go back and race there, one of my best friends still lives there, also Erick use to live there. I'm sure you'll have a blast.
Take care, Ben
