14TH ANNUAL SUPERBOAT INTERNATIONAL MIAMI SUPERBOAT GRAND PRIX "LIVE FROM MIAMI" ON TALKOFFSHORE.COM

Tarpon Springs, FL ... Talkoffshore.com will take their new show on the road to broadcast live from the 14th Annual Superboat International Miami Superboat Grand Prix on April 18th. The talk format show is a new concept which debuted it’s first show on April 6th. The show is broadcast on the world wide web at TalkOffshore.com and just like the largest power boating forum in the world OffshoreOnly.com, provides true global access and brings offshore power boating directly to boaters and race fans alike.

The show is hosted by Martin Sanborn, a long time broadcaster of offshore powerboat races on the Fox Speed Channel. "I am thrilled to be involved with this project," Sanborn said. "This format will give the fans of offshore power boating a voice that they can listen to, and talk back to on a weekly basis. It’s just like Offshoreonly.com, but without the typing, and we do encourage everyone to join in the fun of the "Chat Room" at the same time on OffshoreOnly.com" he continued.

The Superboat International event will also debut technology which will allow the racers themselves to be placed "on the air" while they are in the boats during the live "play by play" broadcast. Fans will be able to hear the action in a way never before done in a live format.

Marine industry manufacturers will find that it is a highly targeted marketing tool, boasting a dedicated demographic that is quantifiable in a way not possible in traditional broadcast medias.

Fans can log onto TalkOffshore.com beginning at 11:00am on Sunday the 18th for live coverage of the race as well as interviews with racers and fans.

The regular scheduled show airs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30pm Eastern, and live from selected events on the offshore racing, poker run and offshore fishing tours. For more information, log into TalkOffshore.com. For marketing information call 800-334-8018.

Ron P 04-16-2004 05:49 PM

Perfect, I gotta do some painting on Sunday. Better than listening to music.

Ron P 04-16-2004 07:53 PM

Spoke to Brucie, he says about 25 boats at Friday's roll call.

lukiepal 04-17-2004 03:00 AM

Its 4am I am going to the airport now be in Miami around 9am

Ron P 04-18-2004 09:22 AM

Spoke to Bruce again at 10am on Sunday morning. 30 boats total will make the show. He got bumped up to P4. He'll run against 4 other boats.

dhlaw 04-18-2004 10:43 AM

I guess that this will clam up the St. Cloud critics...... 30 boats and St. Cloud had 22. I think this year will be tough all the way around.

seadog 04-18-2004 01:22 PM

I do not see how, there is no comparison in the races, if you listen to the show or are here.

As mentioned elsewhere: It looks like this year any race with a 30 boat field will be deemed as a great success.

Youre right.... St. Cloud was a divisional with a good turnout (many of the same boats), this SBI opener is probably indicative of the remainder of the year for all organizations. We'll see how Marathon pans out.... I am going for the week so no matter how many people show I'll be happy!!! My house is in sight of the course!!

InTow 04-18-2004 04:40 PM

Latest confirmed Miami numbers:

Called at roll call: 30
Answered roll call: 28
Started: 25

lucky strike 04-18-2004 05:14 PM

Anyone know the results of todays race?

Peconic 04-18-2004 05:36 PM

Jay Muller (Brioschi) won despite fuel problems. Asked who came in second, Jay said: "Good question. We were the only ones in the race."

ScottB 04-18-2004 06:21 PM

P5 Great Adventure Unopposed
P4-1 Pitman Photo
2 Screamin Eagle
3 Simply Awesome Broke 200 yds away
4 Don't Blink running 4th when broke
5 Extreme Fountain retired 2 laps running 5th
6 Miami Boyz Took a wave coming out Gov Cut and didn't start
P3 I think 38 Cig 1&2 but from my vantage point it looked like they were both passed by Pitman and Screamin Eagle.
P2?
P1?
Super V Firewater (#1 Overall)
SVL ?
SCL Briosci (Unopposed)
SC Bacardi (Callan didn't make start)
That is all I can remember
Very rough Race

SVL

ScottB 04-18-2004 07:37 PM

Callan was in the water and running but never started. It was very rough and firewater and Bacardi were back and forth until Bacardi Broke. Firewater would catch him in the really big water outside and Bacardi would reel him in on the beach. S Class was a back and forth battle all race and it look like P3 was close as well. All in all it was a fun race to watch with tons of big air.
I know everyone near me enjoyed it....even Bob Bull had a smile on his face all race.

Ron P 04-18-2004 07:48 PM

Did Bob Oliver race in Firewater?

Any other SuperVees?

ScottB 04-18-2004 07:52 PM

There were other super v's in fact, National Marine was ahead of Firewater at one point but broke early. I couldnt tell the difference between SV and SVL

josh76 04-18-2004 07:53 PM

Herb Stotler raced with Rich. Bob Oliver is not racing this season with Firewater.

Ron P 04-18-2004 09:14 PM

Thanks Josh, that's why I asked. I wasn't sure who was racing in the boat this season.

Ron P 04-19-2004 11:48 AM

You guys need to take a lesson from DLaw on how to write a race recap story.

dhlaw 04-19-2004 02:23 PM

You know I am available for freelance work!!

Ron P 04-19-2004 04:11 PM

I'll be in Marathon covering the race for Extreme Boats Magazine. I could certainly add a sidebar article about your first hand experience in your second ever race.

Actually, you might become my centerpiece for the article.

DLaw takes Marathon to the cleaners!!!!!! Wadda ya tink!!!!

You got team T Shirts yet? You bringing any deck jewelry to make the boat stand out in the pits if you know what I mean?

We need to talk.

Frank,

Thank you and all of the SBI gang for the warm welcome we received. Racing the big water off Miami's South Beach was a real challenge to say the least.

Hey, just getting out to the race course was nothing for the faint of heart. We had more than couple of those big rollers in the mouth of Government Cut break over the bow and clean the windshield. What a rush!

We where very pleased to hang in there for the third place finish. It's a good start for the new team

The boat Gremlins have been identified, but we're still looking for missing header bolts. Five found...five still hiding. When we get them all rounded up, we're gonna handcuff them together so they will stay at their post and quit going down to play in the bilge.

We're off to Biloxi on Thursday. Family commitment will keep us from making Orange Beach the following week, but we'll be Marathon and then on to St. Pete followed by Sarasota for the Fourth.

A special thanks goes to Matt & Julie.....Throttle Up was right there lending a helping hand all weekend. You guys really went above and beyond to make sure everything went right.....Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Ken Doyle

I tried to get a shot of you pointing at the sky, but each time you did, my digital camera had to think about it for 2 seconds!

BRUCE SEROFF 04-20-2004 07:59 PM

Too Bad Freeze Frame wasnt filming the inlet as we came out. That would have made some good viewing

georges 04-20-2004 08:29 PM

When you guys were going out, were the only 2 people out at the end of Southpoint , I couldn't believe it!
If I would have known, I would have brought the movie cam!
It was good seeing you Bruce, hope you're OK, the boat can be fixed.
See you in Marathon.:D

TeamTaboo 04-21-2004 07:34 AM

I wish I had turned the camera on going out the inlet, and Jeff was flying over the inlet when we went out, he flew over us out near all the big stuff

Amen to that....The first thing I did when we got back to the pits was to look for cracks in the hull, and stringers.
