Default Open Letter from GLSCS

Open Letter to all Race Teams,

The Great Lakes Silver Cup Series would like to extend a warm welcome to all Offshore Race Teams for our upcoming 2004 racing season. The Great Lakes Silver Cup Series is an eight year association of some of the oldest Offshore Racing Clubs in the United States, dedicated to conducting Professional Offshore Racing events in the Great Lakes and surrounding waterways. Many of our Officials and members of our Advisory and Executive Boards bring to the table and the race course over 30 years of Offshore Racing experience. This experienced pool of people have worked hard over this past six months to help the Series to grow and expand into our new role as an independent sanctioning body. With the help and commitment of all of our members we have restructured our organization into an Executive Board and an Advisory Board; giving a vote and a voice to our Officials, our Race Producers, our Race Teams and our Technical Consultants. Our Race Teams and Officials met on numerous occasions over the winter and formulated our class structure and technical rules; log onto our website, www.silvercupseries.com and you can read and download our New General Rule Book and 2004 Technical Rule Book.

The Great Lakes Silver Cup Series has also finalized our 2004 Offshore Racing Schedule and our television schedule. Again, we are proud to be working with AeroEFX and The Outdoor Channel to bring to our Race Teams and Sponsors a quality television broadcasting of our entire 2004 season under the program banner “The Outdoor Channel’s SpeedZone”. The shows will air from 9:00 to 10:00 PM on Wednesday evenings. The following is a copy of our Race Date and Air Date Schedule:

As of this writing The Offshore Super Series organization is currently finalizing plans to attend the Great Lakes Silver Cup Series St. Clair River Classic Event. Via our relationship with the OSS, the members of the GLSCS will be invited to participate with the OSS organization at the 2004 Key West World Championships.

The Great Lakes Silver Cup Series is a 501-C3 Not for Profit Organization dedicated to producing Offshore Racing Events and promoting awareness for National Safe Boating and our various local Children’s Charities. All of the Board Members and our Officials are volunteers, dedicated to producing quality Offshore Racing events for the betterment of the Communities, Charities, our Race Teams and Sponsors. The following is a break down of our fees and how they are used to support our Race Teams and Race Sites:

Race Event Entry Fee: P1- P5 $650.00 Race Event Entry Fee: F1 and F2 $600.00

$250.00 Television $250.00 Television

$50.00 GLSCS Officials $50.00 GLSCS Officials

$50.00 GPS* $50.00 High Points Fund

$50.00 High Points Fund $300.00 Race Site Fees (Prize Purse, Insurance, Charities, etc.)

$300.00 Race Site Fees (Prize Purse, Insurance, Charities, etc.)

$350.00 GLSCS High Points Fund Covers Operating Expenses (Printing, Mailing, Website, Accounting, Safety Cell Administration Expenses, etc.)

As the above breakdowns show, based on the funds taken in during the year, over 95% of all monies from our participating members comes back to them in the form of High Points Funds or support for expenses incurred by each race site, i.e. prize money, additional television costs, insurance etc.; which again benefits each racer directly. Our 2004 High Points fund is expected to exceed $21,000.

We would like to thank Scott Porter, and Formula Powerboats for their continued support of the GLSCS. Formula Powerboats will be the Official Paceboat of the GLSCS and we look forward to seeing Scott Porter, Vic Spellburg and Dan Fellner during 2004. The GLSCS would also like to announce our newest Sponsor, Cleveland Construction, Inc., as our Official Crane Sponsor for the 2004 racing season. For more information about our sponsors, please visit our website to view the full press releases and links.

The Great Lakes Silver Cup Series welcomes all Teams, new and old, to participate. If you have any questions, please visit our website and follow the directions to forward your comments to the Board.

Sincerely,

GLSCS
