Mel,
Since you chose to throw mud, yes we did run a larger prop in marathon, we only had one at that time since it was a new boat, did not breakout and in 8 years of racing have never exceeded our class speed. as far as your 90mph, 89.6 was a kilo record on flat water, 5 gal of gas a prop you would never race with. I am sure we can make your boat go over 80. I suppose we should run against mark and fortress with a 750hp plus motor? We prop the boat for 79 and run wot if you cant hang then drop back to P5. if three boats averaged 75 mph then there you have it on that couse we only lost 5mph instead of 8, look at lap averages in port huron , so much for averages, why were three boats 12 mph off the instead of seven or eight?. Like others have said boats set up right make for tight racing, We are not crying about Herbott, twin engine bigger boat we are having a blast running him down, if you spend more time racing/practicing instead of looking for excuses you might have more fun. Wait at the trailer and look at the gps, apba will DQ you no matter what as they should. Last year in Milwaukee some one acted like you are now because we won by half a lap and actully lapped another boat in our class and our onboard gps and the apba gps both had us 5 mph under class speed. Like I stated previously some people our over zeoulous with there set up or abilities. According to you we should all move to p3 and let you race youself.

Offshore Addiction, we had a stand in driver and that is why the spinouts, we wanted him to get some seat time if need in the future, he only drove in one other race 3 years ago and that was our p1 cat so he had a good learning experience and to think someone is pissed about this, scott is a crew member and it was good to let him have some fun I had family obligations so missed the race, congrats on a good run. Unfortunately it seems everybody wants a class for their boat.

mel , I am sorry that you are so upset over this but for your information in sarasota our gps showed a top speed of 78.4 and you are right we did average over 73 mph I'd say that we were pushing hard in the corners buts that s what it is about . so well sbi's Idea of loseing 8 mph was just proven wrong but remember in a rough race hell the averages will be in the 60's or worse . and I wish we had 5mph on herbott maybe we did in a spot I don.t know but if you talk to him he will tell you whichever of us gets ahead of the other it isn't because of breaking out but rather tight close racing . and bye the way running too big a wheel would be to our disatvantage as we would not gain any top end and would lose acceleration ( who would want that) . We race hard in whatever class we run in , we run to win and make no apologies for that , we got a bad start in sarasota and were out raced by herbott( don't tell him I said that) and offshore addiction thats part of the game . We all make mistakes in set up , and on the race course and some of it is dealt to us ( as in getting caught in traffic etc) all we can do is run the best race we can and let the chips fall where they may , what I am trying to say is if you have a boat that can run in the upper end of your class and you ran the fastes race possible with no mistakes and held that speed through the turns and still are not in the game than maybe someone is in the wrong class however maybe you can do that but even after 8 yrs of racing I have never run a perfect race . also the humidity and heat killed our boat in sarasota we could not even get to your 79.9 if we though one of us out of the boat to save the wieght . Hang in there and work on your set up and corners hey why pick on us we only barley finished ahead of you lets gang up on herbott and offshore addiction

the gps p-class may not be perfect but it is the best thing we have come up with since we have been racing

Now that this thread has come back to life, why won't some of you actively respond to my suggestion to take out all GPS's except the one placed in the boat by the sanctioning body. What possible harm could this do?
Al, Scott, Larry, Mel, Anybody, everybody! The only two people who replied directly were Typhoon (Mad Dog) and Ron P. I originally posted it almost 48 hours ago.
I'm waiting. If it doesn't make sense tell us why. If you like it say so. Of course I am aware that some people want to win so badly that they may use a handheld and toss if overboard after the race.

Allright Allright....quit your boo hooin.....

I too, think its a good idea to run without on board GPS. P Class teams should set their boats up to run their max speed in perfect conditions. This way they know for sure they will not break out in race conditions. No matter how hard they try.

Another option would be to put radar guns in 3 or 4 points on the course and toss GPS all together.

Just my opinion

Bruce,

Thanks for the response. Don't quote me on this but I have heard that radar and fiberglass don't really work well. I am not sure that's the case but radar was tried early on in P class racing and was abandoned. Does anyone else remember this?

Ray

I remember some talk about that when they were talking about speed restrictions on the Barnegate Bay

Ray, radar doesn't work well on fiberglass, they would have to hit some sort of metal on the boat as it went by. As for GPS's, I don't care what they do, lets go out and have a ball...go back to the pits and have a Salami and Mozz hero! Just my Italian Thinking. Augie
