Congrats to Steve David

Steve finished 3rd in the Unlimited Gold Cup in Detroit.

It sounded like his hydro was falling apart thru the last two laps but he persevered to finish 3rd.

The Bud, with Dave Villwock won it's last appearance at Detroit..

Congrats to Steve for a gutsy performance....

When I first saw the post I thought he finally won it!
Oh well, congratulations on a good finish Steve, and as they say in Jamaica:
"soon come mon".

If you had heard the broadcast (i did) or seen the race (I didn't, dammit!!) it's a wonder Steve didn't have to swim across the finish line..

Thanks! It was a good weekend at the Gold Cup. 2 heat wins, 2nd. in the final, and currently leading in National high Points, albeit only 3 points ahead of the Bud. Kind of like a pit bull chasing you about 1 inch behind your butt
The winner was Team Emcor U-10. The boat owners are Kim and Debbie Gregory, two of the finest people you'll ever meet. The win was especially soul felt as this hull is the one that George Stratton lost his life in 2000 at our San Diego race. Kim and Debbie made a commitment to rebuild and make her the fastest, safest boat possible, and this weekend it all came to fruition. Nate Brown was their driver, also a champion in every regard.

Thankfully our breakage was limited to the rear wing and fairings. Somewhat akin to losing your trim tabs and drive trim in an offshore boat.

Wherever you all are racing this weekend and next, be safe, have fun.

Steve
