Key West SS outboards

I am a fan of the ouutboards and I enjoyed the races in KW. All the AMT boats ran great but I can't help but wonder... where have all the skaters gone? There must be a bunch of 28' canopied race boats collecting dust in shops around the country. For that matter where are the 30' spectre cats that were so popular a few years ago?

Two Spectre's ran in the KW races. Game On!(nearly destroyed in a collision with Deep V) and Pour It ON which ran KW in P-3.
The 28 Skaters are perfect under ideal(read flat) conditions, but in the KW(as well as other) races they would have been deadly. I drive the ONLY open boat in the class(AMT), and I can attest there is a fine line between FUN/FEAR.

Super Stock is definatley on the come back. There are several more boats on order for next years race season and some slated for come backs. I don't think that a 28 Skater would have done well in KW but there are a few races where a 28 could walk the class. The canopied boats were not as good in rougher water as the open boats. I know of at least 3 canopied 28s that are currently for sale. It was nice meeting you in KW Mike.

I would have to guess maybe 15 at some races next year. You and DPT need to step up to the plate.

Ryan Thanks for the tour of your boat. It was very nice to meet you also. I knew Pour it on was a spectre but I didn't know Game on was. It is great to see this class so well represented, as it almost died a few years back.
I really was not commenting if a 28' skater would be competitive but I thought as a many boats as there must be out there Ya think someone would be racing one.
At least with the outboard boats one can keep track of what class is racing!

What always impresses me about our class is the average lap speed divided by the cubic dollars. The highest lap speed in Super Boat was 99 and Super Boat Limited 91 (Key West) . Our whole team including the drivers :D is not as costly as their outdrives and propellers. But the top lap speed in our class was 83, only 8 mph slower than SBL and 16 slower than SB. Not trying to take anything away from our more financially well endowed Brothers in the "Big Show" classes. For bang and thrill for the buck Stock is hard to beat.

I love the outboard boats too. My dad first started racing in the outboards. It's just a great competitive class.
