Tony, welcome to the board, it's about time. I have thought this would be a great idea for some time.

P.S. How is the canopy holding up? We are making some new changes in the new molds for the 24 OD I will fill you in on at one of the races.

Remember "Shake the Lake" in Oshkosh. It was the GLSCS Championship. I was on on the comittee for the (3) year contract of that race and am working with the city to bring it back again. Count me in for another Central Division race in Oshkosh in the future under the name Oshkosh Thunderfest. I agree - we need more races up here!!! The Pioneer Resort is being rebuilt as we speak and has added 120 slips. Awesome venue for an Offshore race. The hot pits, wet pits, and hotel are all with 500 feet of each other. The last race that was held here had 48 boats - not bad for a GLSCS event, or any event now days!!! Lets pump up the Central Division!

Fellow Racers:

First, Tony Currier (thepressureson) and myself would like to wish a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to ABPA and SBI for combining forces into the World Powerboat Racing organization, bringing unified racing back to our fans and sponsors and race teams.

Tony is the first to admit he is "PC challenged", so he has elected me to be his "scribe" to post our own exciting news:

Past, present and potential Central Division racers are invited to attend the inaugural meeting of a racing organization striving to put Divisional racing back on the map in the Midwest....

The Mission:

Develop and maintain a professional Offshore Racing Association to support
sanctioned racing in the Central Division. This association’s goal will be
to secure former, present and future race sites in the Great Lakes region,
to attract participation from all Offshore sanctioning bodies, and fund
operations through active solicitation of event sponsors and race producers.

Agenda:

o Discuss race sites for the Central Division / Representatives for each site
o Uniting all racers, volunteers, members, sponsors, etc...
o Class structure
o Membership
o Proper voting for positions on the board
o Open discussion for questions, concerns, and ideas

We are anticipating attendance from Race Teams from Southeastern Michigan,
Ohio, Kentucky, and Illinois, as well as potential sponsors and producers.
Members of the Media are also welcome. Snacks and light fare will be
served, and a Cash Bar will be available.

The meeting to be held on Feb. 15, 2005 @ 7:30 pm

Location:

The Voyageur Restaurant
525 S. River Road
St. Clair, MI 48079
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...searchtab=home

Please join us in the resurrection of Central Division racing in the Great Lakes.

For details, contact Tony Currier at (810) 326-0502.
...or myself at 313 283-8148

Thanks,
Brian

Way to go Tony,
I'll be looking forward to attend the meeting. You can count on me to make the Algonac race site happen. Short Circuit P5-60

Tony / Brian,
Do you have an idea of what classes you will be hosting? Will you try to align your classes and rules with the APBA/SBI rules?

Mike, this makes the most sense to me. This is Tony's gig, so this would be a good question to bring up at the Feb 15th meeting.

Generally speaking, if divisional circuits offered the same class structure as the national tour, they stand a better chance of attracting the bigger named teams. If there is no alignment, it's a fair bet that only the "local" teams will show.

We're looking for input from multiple angles; teams, promoters, sponsors, media and broadcasting. It's a good question, what's your thoughts?

Exclamation Re: forming central divisional boat club

Tony & Co.
Very pleased things are coming together for the central region. Fences are being mended and with luck, egos are checked at the door in the name of putting on a good show and having a blast.

The Bounty Hunter/Mt. Dew A-4 team will be there to support you in the first meeting. Not sure what classes would run but I'm sure you'll find a place for us.

Hey Gordo, call up Steve and get that old Corsa back up here to have a Corsa-battle-royale' in some fresh water. A or P4, you pick the class.
