The First Amt Inboard
The first AMT inboard is out of the mold. It will be equipped with small blocks and Imco out drives. With each boat, Lee Austin (the builder) continues to improve the quality and performance of these outstanding hulls. This inboard model should be a very sweet ride. SQ

Any pics Steve????

Re: The First Amt Inboard
I will see what I can do.........from Chicago.
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
I think at one time they were maybe Lee Austin is building them for the owner. Ryan Beckley could shed light on the real answer and can sorrect me if I am wrong.

Re: The First Amt Inboard
Is it the 30 footer or bigger.
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
The boats were built by Yellowfin for awhile the mor recent boats are laid up by LA Marine in Ft Lauderdale. The IO boat will be LT-6(?) engines with imco drives it will be 30'. This is Andy's project for himself/sale.
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
That's LA Marine owned and operated by Mr. Lee Austin. Lee is the designer and builder of the Deep V Cats Super Stock boat and the builder RE-designer of the 30' AMT. Lee Austin true throwback, old school (non-AMEX) boat racer, designer , builder, rigger, class representative , go to guy when someone needs help in the pits.
Lee continues to refine and improve the AMT. SQ |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
He is a great guy as well.

Re: The First Amt Inboard
Pics, pics, pics!!!! :D
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
It still looks like any other AMT, astheticly, it won't look any different till it's rigged and running. I would think it will be in the glass shop for another month or so at least.

To funny Ted you got me!!!!
One more time I guess. Where in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida is he located????? |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
About two blocks from Davie Blvd and 95.
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
Ryan,
Is he over by National Liquidators???? I know a few girls that work there. |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
I don't know where that is?
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
When going west on Davie do you cross over 95 to get there or is he on the east side of 95??? National Liqidator's is just on the west side of 95 as you drive passed 95 on the left hand side. You have to drive south on a side road as they are right on the water.

Re: The First Amt Inboard
I am working on getting some photos of the AMT Inboard project. I just had a talk with Andy the owner of AMT. The boat will be available with several horsepower options. He and Lee Austin feel the Generation 3 base will provide the best balance for the boat. The first set will go in stock at 375 hp to get baseline test figures. Andy said a naturally aspirated 800 hp version might become an option.
This is all very premature as the hull just came out of the mold. I don't have many more details. I have raced against various versions of this boat for many years. It is stable and seaworthy and really fast. A 1600 hp version would be comparable to a Lamborghini in many ways, except you could actually afford it. The constant R & D continues at AMT/LA Marine. The tunnel of the next generation AMT's has been dramatically altered, more air=more lift=less drag=more speed. SQ |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
Is the tunnel the same width Steve??? My guess is they are going to widen it to pact more air along with a few other tweaks.
Does this mean we might see You and Lee in an AMT sometime soon as well?? |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
They took the V out of the rear tunnel.

DPT, I'm not certain about the future. But I'm really excited about the possibilities. SQ |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
Steve,
I am sure Lee did not waste any time but is all the fiberglass work done on the DeepV Cat. All fixed?? It looked like you guys hit something after the last race. One of my buddies had shots of it. I am really impressed on how well that design runs as well. |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
You are so right my friend. That boat is a monster, balanced, stable and fast. It is a serious contender. With a younger hot shot team to drive it, it would be VERY difficult to beat. The damage you saw was all cosmetic Lee almost has it completed. He said he might have found a couple miles an hour while repairing it.
Game On (30 Spectre) hit us in turn one, they came in a little hot. Actually alot hot but they are good guys. SQ |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
Sounds and looks like another great boat from AMT. Keep up the good work Andy and Co.

Re: The First Amt Inboard
Ryan,
Were any of those changes implemented on your boat or was yours built before all the changes?? Steve, Thanks again for filling me in on all the details. Could you possibly send me some close up pics of the Deep V Cat???? I will private message you in a few days. Have family medical problems I need to deal with. Rough day and night so far. |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
The inboard it the first with ALL of these changes. Racing Frency has a cool tunnel tab.

Re: The First Amt Inboard
DPT,
There you go, Buddy. This guy James Easton grand-performance.com is one of the best photographers out there. He is reasonable and really good. I would suggest that if you see him at a race ask him to shoot you. Better yet go to his site he might already have pictures of your boat. SQ |

Steve,
Actually James took a few great shots of the team I was crew chief for in Key West this year. Remember this boat. Remeber chatting with me in the Crane area/Hot Pits. A sample of James' work for us. Thanks for the pushing his work though as he truly deserves it. James' should be getting something in the mail soon and when he does I hope he lets me know that he got it. Cheers, DPT :drink: :drink: :drink: |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
The inboard AMT will be all epoxy. This is the first time LA Marine is building the 30' AMT in epoxy. The news keeps getting better. SQ
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
should be a very nice piece, good luck with it.

Re: The First Amt Inboard
Steve,
Thats really kool that they are going with epoxy. Post some photos if you get them and thanks for the continued updates. |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
Great shots of the hull. It looks like a flat tunnel and the sponsons are V shaped and stepped and not flat like skater sponsons.

Steve,
Is Racing Frenzy the first AMT with the flat tunnel??? Could not help but notice this when I was checking out Grant's Custom Rigging website, www.grantscustomrigging.com. I noticed the flat tunnel do to Grant's installation of a tunnel tab on that particular AMT. |
Re: The First Amt Inboard
The tunnel has a slight v to where the tab starts. On the new boat I think they took ALL the v out.
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
Thanks Ryan.
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
Any updates Steve????
|
Re: The First Amt Inboard
Nothing exciting to report. Lot's of engineering and planning at the moment. I'm taking the wife somewhere warm for a couple of weeks. I'll report when I return.
Ryan is correct about the Racing Frenzy boat. What you are seeing in the photo is a custom wedge which Lee Austin built to flatten out the V. The new generation of AMT's will have no V at all and several other changes. As trick as the in-tunnel flap is, Bryan says he rarely uses it. The boat responds very well to trim. SQ |
