Damage from Storm
#22
Hey, the OLD Mare is still around.
I stayed at the lake this weekend and you are right, it is a mess. The most damage I have seen, even worse that the ice storm of 2000.
Are you sure you don't want to go to Miami, no ice down there except what's in your Crown.

I guess as a structural engineer my question is why aren't these docks designed and constructed to handle the potential loading? I'm sure they aren't governed by any code, but I would think that anyone building a dock would want to make sure it didn't sink/collapse during a moderate snow. It isn't like snow is unheard of around here. I doubt construction cost would be vast amounts more either. It just doesn't make sense to me to risk the LARGE $$ that is sitting out there and chintz on the dock.

Wed. evening and no power at parts of Grove yet. We have been out since Sat. morning. At least 60 power company boom trucks parked at Wal-Mart parking lot in the evening. :0
I'll post some pics once we get out of the generator roution.
Grove is a ****ING MESS!

Great, not what we need. The lake already looks like a tornado blew through and then froze everything. Here are some pics that my boss took while TRYING to get to his house in The Coves. Let's all hope for the best.
