Default Surveyor on Grand

Were looking at a 87 43 Wellcraft Portofino that Tera Miranda has listed and looking to get a survey. Maybe somebody knows about the boat? Just Cattin Around is the name, and have been told it has been on grand since new.
Thanks Quinlan

Gene Gregg prob sold it new at Tera Miranda...ask him direct...there was one that came from Florida that S&K Yacht sales fluffed up and it was EDGEY....I've bought several boats from him and trust him completly...those Portofinos are great boats for the money!! I wanted one and almost bought one in 1997 from Gene but saw the Sundancer with two heads and...my 02...whip

I am very leary of Benton. He did an awful surveying job on the Trojan because his brother-in-law (Duck Creek Yachts)did a major repair and the work sucked. I talked the insurance into letting another surveyor look at it then from his results, they (Duck Creek Yachts) fixed the problems. Just be careful!

We have been dealing w Shane. Im guessing son to Gene? I have gone through it pretty well and looking to haulout and check bottom. Looks like it will need a bottom job soon.
Oh and Fin the Blue looks nice but a little more than we looking for. I need a cruiser w AIR for the wife then I get to ditch the Baja and start looking for a CIG!!!

Quinlan -
I'm around Tera Miranda a lot and probably know the boat you are looking at. Shane is a great guy - he's Gene's son. There are two Portofinos in Tera Mirnanda - both have low hours and were sold there originally. Is the Portofino you are looking at called LAZY BONZ? If I were you, I'd go ahead and get the bottom job done right off the bat - just factor that into the price of the boat because it needs to be done soon. Good luck with your boat hunt! See you on the lake.

Joe
We looked at that one but it had a strange config in the cabin with a second berth with bunk beds, that took up alot of the room below. This is the one moored at Shangri la right now.

Gotcha -
I've seen that Portafino at Shangri-La too. It's nice. They were all configured a little differently. It's been for sale for a while - I'm sure the guy is ready to get rid of it. Shane will work with you if it's the right boat! Either way, good luck on your boat hunt!

I guess you were right. Tom undervalued my boat because a few little inexpensive things. Burnt out bulb, small tears at the seams in the sunpad, blower motor bearing making noise. He valued the Fountain at ony $25K.

That sucks Matt. I take it since you're having a survey, that she's close to being sold?
