The drinks are great there, but the food is just terrible at Island Joes, terrible.

Considering that it is lake food (Burgers, fries, and such), I think that the food is fine. Has your food been bad more than once? I usually eat there every weekend, and haven't had any bad experiences with the food. Kenny and Tina Smith do a good job at running the place, and if you have had a bad experience with the food, they would appreciate your feedback. I will agree with you that the drinks are great, and can make for a fun boat ride home..

Damn, if I wasn't doing the Miami/Bimini gig tomorrow I'd fly out. Have an extra(or 5) for me.

Unfortunately, yes, my food experience has been consistently bad. I have asked others as well, thinking it was likely just bad luck on my part, but there are others that weren't impressed.

I haven't tried it this year, but will. It's a fun run up there, great view, & drinks. The people that run the place are always fun to sit at the bar with.

Its good to hear that you will give it another shot. I know that last year was their first year to run the place, and they had a few kinks that needed to be worked out. So far, I haven't had any issues this year. You are also right about it being a great view and a cool place to park the boat, sit around the bar and drink. I wish there were more places like it, as I prefer to go to the lake and party at places on the water, rather than sit in a dark club (Big Shots). And the problem with Uglys for anyone that doesn't live in Duck Creek, is it takes forever to get there esp. with the "no wake" deal.
