Ok guys I need some advice.

First off just to let you know this will be my first boat purchase.

I am looking at a 27' with a 502 and a 29' with twin 454's. The 27 is three years newer and cleaner then the 29'. They both are roughly the same price.

My question to you guys is should I be looking to only go with twins or will I be ok with a single. If I buy a single will I want twins the first time I run with someone with twins. Are twins to much for a first boat? I want to make sure I make the right decision because I dont wont to be tryin to sell a boat next year.

My thoughts right now are to go with the single. Mainly because its my first boat, the twins require twice as much maintence and gas, and twice the cost if something goes wrong. I am pretty much at my max spending wise so I cant really afford for to much to go wrong. My main concern is the ride and handling with the single? Will I be ok?

O and will you guys even respect me and my 27' single

what kind of boats are they? what power?

If you can get "twins" out on Lake Erie .... I'd go for it !?!?!?!

Right now I am looking at a 27' powerquest with a 502 and a 29' powerquest with twin 454's. I also have looked at a couple 28' powerquest with 502's but I'm not sure about the stepped hull. Any thoughts on the stepped hulls?

First boat purchase? I would prabably go for the single. Get used to how a single handles before having 2 of everything...just a thought.

Maintance will be twice as much, gas depends on how far you push the sticks.

It would only cost twice as much if something broke on both engines. Plus if something goes wrong with one you still have one to get back to the dock with.

It's hard to compare twins verse single as for what could go wrong, you could get the single and have problems and nothing with the twins, as such you could get twins and have problems and then none with the single.
The ride and handling should be alright, you get better dock handling with the twins.

You would have to ride in the back ... just kidding, there would be no problem with any boat you get.

Just remember that getting a boat is to enjoy it and to relax with it. Get the one you would be more comfortable with.
