Default St. Joseph - Sat. August 4: Where to stay?

We'll be passing through on our way from South Haven to New Buffalo, and are looking for local information on these marinas (or others):

Pier 33?
Pier 1000?
Harbor Isle?
St. Joseph West Basin?

They all look pretty good on paper. Nice showers and pool a must for the Admiral. Good dining within walking distance is handy, but we can always cruise by boat if there are any fine waterfront establishments....

Thanks, folks!

West basin is municipal, quiet, no pool, but that's what the big lakes for. 1st on left as you enter harbor.
the others all have pools. Be prepared to walk 1/4 mile, no matter where you end up to reach town/bars. Should be a great weekend!

Pier 33 is the best of the bunch. There is also 2 places to eat right at the marina. Clementines and Barney's boat house.

Harbor Isle is ok, but certain areas can really get the nasty river scum in them.

Pier1000 and the West Basin, I personally have never stayed in. Pier1000 is farther down the river and not close to any food, and it's on the Benton Harbor side. Also you have to be carfule going up the river it get's real shallow in parts.

You could tie up to the wall close to town and walk up for some food, but the two at Pier 33 are as good as anything in town.

What ever you do don't go up river past the island. You won't be happy when you hit something.

Looks like we're going to be at Pier33 - I spoke with Mark there. Also heard from ApacheCarl and BL6. We should be in the neighborhood around 4:00 PM or so: 38' Formula, silver sides, "Me,Too!".

Found Clementine's and Barney's - Gotta love Google Earth...
