hot boat weekend at hardy dam

just wondering how many members are considering going to hardy for hot boat weekend ?

Todd Hartigh 08-26-2007 10:36 PM

We will be there Thursday through Sunday. Staying at brower.

Thats one weekend ya just can't miss.

Hey, were you in Grand Haven a couple weeks ago? We were headed south (black white checkered advantage) to rosy mounds and my wife told me to look over in the distance. She said "that boats running pretty good!"

Looked like your boat.

baronmarine 08-27-2007 06:30 AM

if it's warmer then last year i will be there saturday.

Dreamer1q 08-27-2007 10:58 AM

What is the date? I always forget which weekend it is.

Here's to hoping it is warmer then last year. I froze my ass off last year!

Todd Hartigh 08-27-2007 11:11 AM

7th, 8th, and 9th.

Mainly the 8th.

It is always the first weekend after labor day.

soak_it_n_cider 08-27-2007 12:41 PM

hey

I'll be headed there friday night never been there before what should I expect

Todd Hartigh 08-27-2007 03:35 PM

Alot of fun! Sat. is a booby fest :party-smiley-048: at consumers beach (about seven miles or so from brower park).

Most boats hang out between consumers and brower. The smaller jet boats hang at the sandbar about 4-5 miles the opposite way.

Brower is allot of fun! Tons of sweet boats and great people. Lots of parties around the park Fri./Sat. Be sure to get their asap if you plan to get a spot. You can also just stay on your boat in the camp ground for the price of a launch permit. They have a cove that cuts down through the camp ground where you can pull up in the grass.

if you show up friday night you should expect to have a hard time finding a camp site especially at brower. Saturday lots of boobs some sweet boats and one big red neck yacht club. Ill be at brower for the week stop by have a beer just look for one of the only sabers there:D

soak_it_n_cider 08-28-2007 08:27 AM

hey

I might be headed over there wednesday night set up camp at brower then come back friday after work, where is a good spot at brower to be have 30 foot v bottom never been there before so just lookin for info

Todd Hartigh 08-28-2007 11:58 AM

Anywhere in the park should work, but try to ask for a spot on the cove or toward the river. The water is very close from all directions though. The cove is a little shallow but a friends 38 cougar fits in there fine. You can also park in the grass by the launch ramp.

tell them you want to be as close to the cove as possible and just leave it in the water. if that wont work there are lots of sites that you can get a 30' boat into I have no problem with my 28 the ramp docks is where it becomes interesting. I think they were built for jon boats.

soak_it_n_cider 08-28-2007 12:48 PM

hey

Are the ramps steep or just not long I have a low trailer and end up dragging the trailer up most ramps in michigan

Todd Hartigh 08-28-2007 04:02 PM

The ramp just has a short dock. Your trailer will be fine. Plenty of big boats put in there.

the only thing you will have to worry about there is the inside bends of the river they tend to get pretty shallow and two no wake zones where the cops like to sit . I almost forgot the river was a little low a couple of weeks ago so I would advise aginst going past the sand bar on the north end . I took care of a prop and a skeg just past the sand bar:angry-smiley-055:

spazboz 08-29-2007 02:59 PM

Celebration on the water!

A few of us are considering bringing a friend of ours up from Holland for his Batchlor party. Where does the Formula club hang out? LOL :party-smiley-020:

soak_it_n_cider 08-29-2007 07:37 PM

Is there going to be a decent amount of v botttoms there or mostly jets

There will be boats of every length, shape, size and kind there. The longest Deep V I have seen there is a few 43' Black Thunders, 40' Hustler, as well as Cats, Jets, Pickle forks, STV's, flat bottom drags....all kinds of different and wild stuff. It's a pretty interesting show of various hardware. :party-smiley-020:

Todd Hartigh 08-30-2007 09:19 AM

Like Kaama said... lots of different boats. I would say that the majority of boats their are v's and cats between 22-30'.

KAAMA 08-30-2007 03:08 PM

Heck, a few years ago I saw some feller with a galvanized warsh tub with a tornadee strapped own the rear! :D

Weather looks good. We are seasonal at Brower on lot 118. Can't miss our weirdo paint job. And we have a 31 footer and launching is no problem at Brower.

Hi Heath....Hardy Dam is just south of Big Rapids by about 7-10 miles or so. It is the Muskegon River and Brower Park is located just off of U.S. 131 by about 1.5 miles or so.

Take Exit # 131 and then go East about 1/2 mile and take the next road LEFT or SOUTH (there is a "BP" gas station where you turn) and it will dead end into Brower Park. Bring your 38' Cig....it will be fine.

Tibbstoy2 09-06-2007 10:39 PM

I'll be up there... looks like the weather will be nice after some shaky predictions... Should be fun!

Anyone know where to get some ethanol free 93 octane around there??? I need to fill up between now and saturday...

There is a "BP" gas station about 1/2 mile West off of U.S. 131 at Exit #131----they have 93 Octane. The BP station is on the corner of the road that you turn LEFT/South on that takes you to Brower Park.

You will usually see several boats fueling up at that BP station....or grabbing munchies, beverages, ice, etc, for the day.

1.) Where is the best place to launch at?
2.) Where can I tie up (Marina, slip, etc) to spend the night?
3.) What cell has the best coverage (I use Nextel)?

Thanks
Randy

baronmarine 09-09-2007 08:29 PM

Dreamer1q 09-10-2007 07:28 AM

I had WAY too much fun as always. Have a few pictures to post when I get home. Not many though, too many beers and not enough hands makes taking pictures hard.

I did see a few boats that I recoginize by the signatures on the site. Seen a certian Pantera, and a suspicous looking Apache too. And there was this yellow boat that said KAAMA on the side that was tearing ass down the pond. :)

I will get the pictures up tonight if I remember.

SteelWorkingMan 09-15-2007 04:10 PM

We were camped at River Ridge and went to Brower Park saturday afternoon. Looking for boats for sale and havin' a few cold ones, I just happen to have my camcorder with me as we sat at the boat ramp canal exit. I got a nice shot of KAAMA flying by and then coming into Brower with his hatch open. He closed it when he got to the boat ramp canal. I will try to make time to figure out how to post that plus a few other shots .

I don't know what kind of boat you are looking for, but I am selling my 99 Checkmate ZT 280 with a 500 efi. There is a better description of the boat in the Checkmate section. I am looking to get into a Cig.

SteelWorkingMan 09-17-2007 07:37 AM

Thanks for the heads up on the '99 ZT 280. I think I'll probably look more in a classic direction. I just love the older boats because It's what I grew up on.
