Default Summer trip

I'm planning on boating along the Lake Michigan coast from Winthro Harbor, Illinois (near Wisconsin border) to Door County, Wisconsin. I wanted to go at a leisurely pace (45-50 mph) and do it in a day. Does anyone have experience with this trip? Anything to look out for or anything on the way that would be good to see? I'm planning to go up on June 25 and stay up there with friends then come back June 29.

We went from Milwaukee to Sheboygan last summer, and spent the night at harbor center marina (skipper buds). A great trip, met some very nice people in sheboygan, looked at some very cool boats in the harbor there, and drank a LOT. The only thing I would be somewhat wary about are the dates you chose. If the weather is not good, wait until it is. Don't have a "deadline" schedule. We ran into a north wind the entire way with some angry seas, it was ok... just a little bumpy, burned quite a bit of fuel....

Have fun, hopefully I'll be doing many more of these trips this summer.
