Lake St Clair Launch Ramps
 

Looking For Imformation On Ramps With Access To Lake St Clair (public Or Private For Rent) Capable Of Launching A 32 Skater Without Damaging Trailer. Also A List Of The Pros And Cons Of Each Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

Lots of options for you. I live in Brighton and trailer to St. Clair every weekend. Usually use the Selfridge launch right next to the air base. Take 696 to 94 to the M59 (Utica) exit, get off go east about 1/2 mile and the road goes right into the launch. Lots of room for bigger rigs like ours and lots of docks so you never have to wait too long. They have a sea wall that you can launch against, it's deep and easy to use. Only downfall is they are closed from 11pm to 6am. Another option is the Metro Beach launch which is at 94 and Metro Parkway. The only downfall to that one is you have to idle about fifteen minutes to get out into the lake. But again, lots of parking and overnight docking available with bathrooms and bbq grills, etc... Several others in the St. Clair River and Clinton River as well. Algonac has a couple of public launches, but that's starting to be a bit of a drive. We usually go straight out to Muscamoot or Gull Island so both of the mentioned ramps give easy access to those areas. Hope to see you out there!

Your best bet would be selfridge or the ramp at the end of south river road. All the other ramps around are not long enough or to shallow. Plus you can get the DNR pass and going anywhere in Michigan. The metro pass is a different one just for that park.

We launched our 32' Skater at the Selfridge ramp, and even my 38' Scarab with no problem there.

What is the cost for the year pass, or daily?

I should be buying a boat soon and plan on trailering, and would be looking to use these ramps.

I think roughly $24 that gives you access to any state ramp.

Thanks for all the information everyone. The Selfridge launch seems to be the place to go. I have a couple other question though, how busy is the launch on a typical Saturday and also on holiday weekends? What time is the best to get there? And finally, do you know any easy routes to get there from novi since they are going to be working on 696 all summer?

Everything is all back together and ready to go. Just waiting for some warmer weather.

There is lots of space at Selfridge because they have a large grass area that they open when it gets crowded. But it does fill up pretty fast because a lot of fishermen launch there early in the morning. I'm usually there around 11am and I usually end up in the grass. I take M59 all the way across, but that's easier for me. Not sure where on 696 they are working but you could possibly take 75 up to M59 then over. You can also access M59 from Novi by coming up Bogie Lake Rd through Lakeland area and you end up right by the Alpine Ski lodge on M59.
