Default 1000 Islands Poker Run

Hey Guys!

Who is going?, I generally take the ferry over from the Island and watch, might bid on a "charity ride" this year, since my little Baja is nowhere near "enough" boat to run with the stuff that shows up at this event.

Its still about a month away, but, just curious who is going?, would be nice to meet some members from this board in person and see some of the gorgeous stuff that shows up there every year.

Anyone who is going feel free to let me know if you need any help, directions, etc.

Hope this years event goes well, althought judging by the crappy weather we have had so far this summer...........??

I was there last year and it was a BLAST! I ran in the slower crowd in the fifth group along with Reggie Fountain himself as marshall!
I can hardly wait for this years event. I hope the weather is good and we get lots of runner turn out again. Last year there were 127 boats registered.
Biggest Poker Run in North America now from what I understand!

Trust me...I had a hard job as there were 36 waypoints and lots of rocks! Hard to miss all the rocky shoals doing 85mph over water...............
No damage and we kept our drives on the transom

I will be up that entire week and usual catch the boats coming across 40 acres before they get to the Potters beach area. They air them out up through there before they get to the speed restricted area. We hang out at the beach afterwards, the run brings in a lot of nice hardware.

Sure thing Michael. I won't be in the Profile this year as my friend Chris will be running his old boat "Murphy's Law" Its a 78 Cobalt and the 1999 winner of that event so look for that boat instead of the white one with the purple checkered flags.
Hope to see you there.

Hey Stinger, OK, will look for you "Andreneline Junkie" has invited me to have a look at his Ilmore powered Cat and "ChucK" did the same with his Gorgeous Nor-Tech as well, met alot of nice and helpful fella's on this site, would like to meet a few in person!

""Hammer" are you going to be there?, would love to check out your boat as well!

From what I have heard attendance is down "everywhere" at Poker Runs, I guess the economy combined with a crappy summer [weatherwise] has led to the drop off, apparantly, organizers are seeling just as many "people" but, less boats, in other words instead of showing up to run the event with 2-3 people in a boat, you are seeing 5-6 or more in the same boat, which makes sense financially, Heck I would be good with just riding along with someone if I couldn't afford to bring my own boat.

Lets hope for Good weather this year!

2 weeks away!, hope the weather is better than it has been, what a LOUSY summer so far, weather has been awful, gonna be a REALLY, REALLY long winter if it stays like this until fall!

Hope to able to see some members at the run this year, I think the showing this year will be a pretty good "barometer" of how things are in the boating industry, Poker Runs and the economy in general, I HOPE its a good turnout!

See You There!
