Anyone from Minnesota

Hello- wondering if there's anyone from Minnesota that visits this group? I think there's one for just about every other state lol

UP NORTH 05-06-2010 08:33 PM

I am up on Lake of The Woods right now, but moving to Green Bay next month. about two hours closer to the Twin Cities.

pookie 05-08-2010 04:54 AM

I have friends in St. Paul. I would like to take my boat up the next time I visit them. Where is the best place to launch and run a 47 Fountain?

Maritime_Eng 05-08-2010 05:19 AM

I am originallt from MN does that count for this thread? Lived just south of St. Paul. I have been boating on the st. criox river for 25 years.

The best place would be Wind Mill Marina in Afton, MN on the St. Criox river.

I live just south of the cities near Lakeville. I typically go to the Mississippi River. Putting in at Lake City in the Morning. It's fishing opener so this may be interesting lol. Lake Pepin is 22 miles long and 3? miles wide.... lots of room to play. I like it better the that St. Croix. more room, less crowded.

Caincando- you can email me at [email protected]!

RdRacerZ28 05-19-2010 04:31 PM

Anyone get out last weekend?

Sounds good- I was looking at your link.... we used to keep our 36' Chris Craft at Parkside Marina when I was younger. Lots of memories. Always fun to watch the drunks pull boats out sunday afternoon ;)

We'll be on the river Sunday.... gonna be a great weekend!

So who has the American Flag Cigarette that I saw going up Interstate 35 on Sat. afternoon?

That's Don and Lynn. They are very cool people! They live in Eagan and had a 28 Howard Cat and a 27 Fountain before the Cig. He goes by MNHowardcat on the board.

I am. Have a 30 foot Spectre with twin 300XS's. Have the boat parked just North of Brainerd, in Crosslake. Run the Whitefish Chain every weekend. Lot's of nice boats up there: Fountains, Bajas, Formulas, Donzi, Eliminators, etc...

Mike

There sure are some nice boats up there. There used to be some high performance boat dealers up there at one time too if I remember correctly. There used to be a Sunsation dealer that used to sponsor and bring his boat down to the Liquid Jungle back when he was selling Sunsation.

Caincando1 06-11-2010 07:41 PM

Mike, it looks like you aren't the only one up there with a fast twin OB cat.

I am born and raised in Arizona but my parents own a second home on Gull Lake north of Brainerd so I grew up spending my summers there.

I am going up to visit this summer and originally planned to tow my boat out there to have some fun on Gull, Milacs etc...

I'm a little hesitant to do it though because of concerns regarding the noise restrictions.
I run supercharged 500 EFI's with no mufflers so the boat can be a bit loud.
What are your experiences with the restrictions on noise?

I have no experience on Gull and Mille Lacs. Hopefully someone from that area will chime in. When are you coming this way?

Friend of mine. Beautiful boat. He also has a 30 foot Eliminator with triple 300XS's. Also in orange.

Just saw this thread. We are just North of St. Paul and run the St. Croix/Mississippi most weekends. Typically launch at Prescott.

RdRacerZ28 07-08-2010 08:12 PM

Hi all, I haven't been on for quite awhile- Work has been crazy and we're getting ready for the Car Craft Summernationals coming up soon. Haven;t had the Formula out for awhile but did get a new mooring cover made. I also have a new extra black one made out of Sunbrella if anyone is looking for one. I need to replace the shifter cable and water pump in the outdrive so hopefully I can find time to tear into it in the next couple weeks. Also have most of my parts for the EFI conversion I'm doing. :evilb:

Just picked up my CarCraft registration stuff today and will be out there Saturday and Sunday. I have a primer gray 72 Chevy Pickup with a forward tilt hood if you see it out there stop and say hi.

RdRacerZ28 07-16-2010 11:21 PM

We have a large display there with a few of our cars and customer cars. I'm also doing the Real Street Eliminator with my Camaro. We also eat like Kings :) I enjoy it!

Can a 47' boat be launched onto the Mississippi near twin cities with a regular trailer?

I'm not sure about the Mississippi River way up by the cities. There are a bunch of go fast boats that big running around the St. Croix on a regular basis.

We're planning on going to Lake Pepin this weekend. Where is the best place to launch? We'll be staying in South Minn.

RdRacerZ28 07-27-2010 01:53 PM

I would say the Lake City Marina. Nice and clean, well kept, plenty of parking space. Also well protected from wind/weather etc.... It is $8 to launch but well worth it. Stress-free.

We might make a day to lake minnetonka. Anyone have a launch recommendation? How much are the speeding tickets? :)

You'll find 1 race at least!...... lol, look forward to seeing your boat run. Not gonna lie, those turbos scare me a little bit.....

Windmill in Afton. http://www.windmillmarina.com You gonna be out all Sat and Sun?

check300 07-30-2010 02:48 PM

Just sent you a text.

RdRacerZ28 07-30-2010 04:19 PM

You'd be bored on Minnetonka - Not much room to stretch the legs. I saw a pretty cool pontoon boat out there a few weeks ago.. it had a old Black Max outboard on it. Suprised it didn't flip backwards lol

check300 08-01-2010 04:52 PM

Ran the St Croix with Saxman yesterday. Had a great day. Thanks so much for showing us around the area. Your boat is beautiful and fast. I think we know the first names of the two fastest boats out this weekend. :)

Thanks Bill, had a great time as well. Your boat is smokin' for sure. Although, I think the ladies were trying to hint to you that they really liked the BT cabin! :drink: Anyways, I look forward to seeing some more of those turbos hit the water! :D Did the weather hold out out on the croix today?

Weather was OK today. We moved a couple of times to stay away from a shower but it was all good. You're right about the BT cabin. They loved it.
