Anybody see the boat that burnt to the water last Monday on Torch Lake northend about a half mile south of the west side pier?

Anybody get the story on why it caught fire?

Yes, we captured it on video. Stuck around for about 45 minutes to an hour, but it was still burning. We had to leave and wondered if anyone saw how it all ended. We returned to the area about an hour later and there was no sign of the incident. We never heard why it caught fire, but everyone did exit safely. A few minutes before the boat caught fire, it passed our boat on the lake and we commented on how the engine noise from the boat sounded abnormally loud. We

also noticed a burning smell and checked our temperature gauge which was normal. In the distance we saw a boat burning and when we got closer we realized it was that same boat. Quite an amazing sight to see...Thank God everyone from the boat exited safely.

I would guess bad water pump, engine got hot and the driver wasnt paying attention to his temp gauge and caught fire.
When we were there the fire department was trying to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers to smother the fire, that didnt work, and theboat was burnt to the cockpit sole.
dont know the final outcome
Thank god everyone was safe!
Looked to be a newer Cobalt?

The boat passed us quickly and I couldn't read the name, but I thought it looked as though it started with the letter "C". So your guess of Cobalt could be correct. We also saw the Sheriff boat trying to extinquish the fire. We just wondered if whatever was left of the boat finally sank. It was in the drop off which ranges from about 150-300 feet deep in certain areas of the lake. We go to our family cottage on the north end quite often during the summer and will ask around next time.

.. In all seriouses, it is good nobody was hurt.. What kind of boat was it??
