Actually. I read the coment if you are a US Resident and don' t care or whatever.
FYI NRP (Niagara regional Police) are targeting US Residents with summer homes in Canada. Their angle is if you primarrly operate a pleasure craft in Canadian Waters, (ie Lake Erie North Shore) and have a Canadian address, they (NRP) are enforcing this BS Tax Grab on the Americans if they are caught with out one.
I agree Airpacker, tax grab to shut up the city idiots about boat accidents.

NOT calling him an idiot or anything, but, look at that Nortech that flipped on Lake Simcoe about a month ago, sounded like "driver error" to me, could be wrong, but......
I agree about the Muskoka's, GORGEOUS area, but, a lot of money, a lot of ego, a lot of VERY fast boats and some WITHOUT a lot of experience.
Personally, I think there should be some form of "graduated" license system, not sure "how" to implement it, but, something that would require anyone driving a boat over a certain HP, speed or size to get a gradually more involved and difficult test, maybe even a "water test" for extreme cases [100 mph plus, over 40ft, 1000hp+, etc]
The operator card DOES have its merits, it you have a "small" boat, ie fishing boat with a 9.9 or a 14ft bowrider used on a small lake and know next to nothing about boating its a good starting point, but, its kind of terrifying to think that IF you can afford the boat and the insurance, the card is ALL you need to run 120MPH in a 40+ft offshore.
Its the same on the Highways, the guys who have never driven anything larger than a Honda Civic who go out and rent moving trucks or Motorhomes and go flying down the road without a clue how to drive or manuever the vehicle.
Again, this ISN"T an insult to boaters who know what they are doing, I have met boaters with 100MPH boats who I would let my kid ride with, I know others that I wouldn't get in a paddleboat with

" You can try to idiot proof a system like the boater card......but you know the only change that will happen is the emerging of newer inproved idiot.
Most people had help or had someone else do the test for them on line, hence the inproved idiot !

For thoes who did take it and learned what is expected on the water. Thank you and watch out for the others. jmo

hows the fuel cost prediction for next year>??
