I saw a article in the paper a few weeks ago and it looks like the course runs from just South of the Black River entrance to the Edison Inn area but does not go into the Lake. That's some strong current so I wondered where they would let us anchor out?
I know the view will be better from land but I have friends up and it's all about the ride to Port Huron and hanging out on the boat.

I've tried a few time to anchor along the river and never had any luck. Your best bet will be to just set and idle on which ever end you are coming in from. Past experiences with the stclair race you won't get thru the course as they shut the river off on both ends typically when running. If you do decide on the canadian side and drop anchor, yes you'll need to check in.

mikeb4,
Has anyone confirmed to launch from Port Sanilac Sunday morning? I am a weather-pending participant.
Looks like the coast guard is closing St Clair River. http://www.bluewater.org/Main/EventI...ePowerboatRace
Apparently, the Black River will be unaccessible for food, gas, and restroom.
Any news on whether there is a (safe and stable) place to raft-off?
