Yes, it was pouring all night and in the morning I went down to the Detroit River to see if they were still running up the river on their way to Brownies. I should of known better, last year I remember them running in the rain after they left the DYC. It appears that they run, rain or shine. A little different then when we held the 2010 Can-Am Motor City Fun Run and Old School Reunion. We had a storm early in the morning and only a handful of boats that said they were coming showed up with all kinds of excuses and it ended up being a nice day after all. My hats go out to all those that ran their boats in the rain even though they knew that they would be getting soaked. While waiting by the Detroit River in the rain, I heard some thunder but it was from some boats that I noticed coming out of the "Mist"coming towards me with rooster tails. The rain had stopped and the sky was clearing and then they starting flying by to wards Brownies. I was wondering if Brian Bunch of "Konrad Fountain of Youth" was going to be running as I haven't seen him on the river for a while. Then I noted Brian's boat coming and I could hear it missing and then stopped along with another Fountain. That was usual for Brian, as no one I have seen on the river runs all out most of the time I've seen him. After about 10 minutes Brian started up again and proceeded to Brownies and sounded better.
I also went back to the Detroit River to see the Poker Run leave their lunch stop at the DYC to their next stop. I heard the music of an Offshore Powerboat Racing down the river and I think it was Brain Becker in his sweet running and looking Cigarette. He blasted by, going down the Detroit River to the Ambassador Bridge and then turned around and blasted back up the river towards the DYC. The boat put on a great show that everyone by the river was looking at him. About an half hour later the group of about 26 boats came down the Detroit River on their way to their next stop. The Konrad Fountain of Youth seemed to have his mechanical problems fixed as he was roaring by full throttle. It was great to see them all roaring by and there was also a large Cruiser that was following them and that thing ran pretty good for its size and probably spent about 3 grand on fuel. I hope next year that you come a little closer to shore. Thanks for the show.
