Amish
Has anyone used the Amish before to make covers..snap in carpet and re upholstery? I have heard they are great with cockpit covers and can do sunbrella and are inexpensive..I am in need of a new cockpit cover this year and want to redo the interior in the next few years..just curious what to expect as far as cost and if they do nice work especially with the bolster seats!

Amish build really nice furniture, not sure about upholstery? |
We have used the amish to build our camper top a few years ago and another for the cockpit cover this year. Amazing quality at a substantialy cheaper price. We had both made from Top gun material and all stainless steel. You will not be disapointed.
Full camper top was 1350.00 Cock pit cover was 485.00 |
Awesome work. Try Sam and Aaron miller in Sullivan Ohio. These guys are brothers Sam does canvas and Aaron does upholstery! Both very, very cheap and some of the best work I have seen! If, you need the number just email me and I could give them to you.
|
I have local Amish do all my truck tarps and other heavy canvas work. They did a cockpit cover for my Cig a while back, I was amazed to see that it was multi layered with a rubberized material in the inside around all the wear points. Great canvas work, upholstry is a different story, at least in my neck of the woods. Leave that up to Dave and Lane at XT in Bucyrus.

The Amish made this one! Very Pleased with results!

Guys,
Here are the numbers to these guys. Again, I get nothing out of it. But, help you all out. These guys did great work and saved me at least $7500.00. Sam Miller does canvas work his number is 419-651.8106 his brother lives next door and does uphostery Aaron Miller 419-651-5116 both are in sullivan, Ohio Ok, here is the plan. It's the honor role plan. You split the money I saved you with the amish and send it my way for gas card. Just kidding! Good luck! Let us know how they do! |
Tell you what Buckeye..Ill buy you a few beers at the Islands!!
Thanks for the info! |
I have used Miller also. You need to tell him what you want in detail. Also do not expect a quick turn around time. The farm comes first then the canvas work. I loved the Top Gun material.
|
No worries on the turn around time..especially for the savings..Im being quoted $1000 for a cockpit cover in my area..:poopoo: I am a Merchant Marine and go out to sea for 5 weeks at a time..I do hope he can get a cockpit cover done in that time I am away..plan to drop off the boat this spring before I head out for a hitch and pick up when i return!
|
What is your Amish quoted price? Where is Sullivan at?
|
Make sure you tell them to keep boat coverd, Sullivan is about 5 miles south of Wellington, or about 40 miles south of Cleveland just off of state rt 58
|
Does that mean they don't keep the boat inside?
|
I havent gotten a quote from them yet since I am out at sea but I am well aware they are much cheaper and do good work than what I have been quoted locally..my father had covers made by them years ago for a few boats he had..I just needed some info on who to contact since this is my first as an owner and its been years since I had to deal with covers..
|
boat will most likely be outside next to the cows
|
Lol.... Cow chit or not I saved about $4-5 g's over doing it in port Clinton ohio. Well worth the drive! I took the boat there at beginning of season. It was raining and it was left outside! But, come on man it's a boat. Brand new one at that! It took about an hour to wash down and I enjoyed it because I had money to spend on something else then giving it to someone local! Btw, there was no cow chit on my boat so I was even more happy about it! Must say don't recall cows! Sam took his business very serious and met our timeline. This was just my experience.
Good luck! |

Sorry guys for keeping the cars dirty. Car covers can destroy a vehicle when not used properly. They are out of the rain, sun and snow. Wish I had room in the shop to keep them warm and cozy. Best to keep the boat clean and pristine. Besides, not really a car guy. Boat and motorcycle. This one stays inside and is very pristine. One pic shows new exhaust system installation. One word-----NASTY. |

Roughly halfway between Columbus and Mansfield. |
Anyone know a place in Wisconsin to get a full cover made?
|
Thrillseeker, how is his work and pricing I need cockpit cover and carpet.
|
Its been a few years since I've had anything done there, pricing and workmanship have always been reasonable. My cockpit cover (28cig) was done about 10 years ago and still looks new, I think I paid $475 for it back then. I don't know if they do carpet, I can stop and ask later this week. I'll see if I can pry a cell # out of one of them.
