Mazurik is the way to go. Catawba is tight and the weather can make it challenging. We have friends at the Catawba Island club, so we inevitably end up at that launch occasionally, but I much prefer mazurik.

Only if those ramps could talk!
I figure this isn't going to end well and as I'm returning to the ramp w/my trailer I can hear tires skidding :party-smiley-004: An older couple in the truck and their adult son on the bow of the boat as the boat pulls the truck down the ramp w/its front tires locked up. The old man has the look of shock in his eyes and a death grip on the wheel. At the same time a red neck fisherman who just tied up his 17' Tracker, tin fishing boat (straight behind the out of control Searay) is walking beside the skidding truck, screaming through the window at the old man (which puts him farther into shock) about not knowing what the hell he's doing. I yell at the red neck that he might want to get his family out of his boat while he still can. They all jump out of the boat just before the Searay crunchs right into it's starboard gunnel pushing it in probably 18" :eekdrop: So the boat/truck are now stopped and the red neck goes back to screaming at this poor guy (still in the middle of the ramp) and is getting more and more agitated to the point of violence. I called 911 and then backed the red neck off the old man and had to tell him I "would not allow" him to hurt the guy. What an A hole! Had to stay there until the cops showed up. Some times you just can't make this stuff up. Funny too, I played that scene over in my head 100 times trying to figure out how to stop the skidding truck before it dawned on me. Emergency brake. Unfortunately I didn't think fast enough to help the old man. |

Mazurks after a great trip on the boat, I was walking up to get the trailer when I see a short bed, 1/2 ton, 2 whl drive p/u at the top of the ramp (it is steep there) w/a 30' Searay hooked to the hitch :cartman:
