You could also get mooring balls over at PIB, but with it being Christmas in July weekend, ever those could be in short supply.

PIB is the party island.

Middle Bass has PF Walleyes (bar) that is right by the marina, nice place, lagoon bar but not sure how it is late, they also have Hazards but it sucks. The Sunny S ferry runs from MBI to PIB until about 1 AM or so, so you can go over to PIB, and then catch the last ferry back to MBI.

Kelley's has Portside Marina, right beside The Casino, I think there you can get a dock and have it all weekend, so you can come and go as you like as well. There is also a marina to the east of the Casino, but I forget what that ones is called.

As was said MBI has all new docks, new marina, and is one of the nicest ones around.

You could also stay at Cedar Point all weekend, and run around from there as well. It's not that far of a run to PIB, Kelley's or MBI from there. Just be careful if you run back to Cedar Point at night, the lights can be distracting.

Thanks for the info. Ultimately we like to get tied up by 6, eat dinner, then get smashed, so driving at night is not an option. Leaving the boats and taking a ferry some where else would not prob not go over well either

Any chance the casino would have room for our boats at 6 pm on a Friday or Saturday?

Would we seriously be stuck without reservations, or is it safe to say we would find a home somewhere?

Your friend Kevin tied up with us a few years ago at Harbor Mess, good guy.

How is the place where you are staying? Quiet or loud music and led lights? :evilb:

It is a state park so they will probably make you quiet down eventually.

Also that weekend at kellys might be island fest so those docks will probably fill up quick too at port side.

The only way to really guarantee docks is to reserve on Middle Bass for the day and night you want to visit. The ferry over to PIB is not bad and not long, PIB is where the party people hang out and there is never a dull moment. If you do get on PIB (Put-In-Bay) and rent a golf cart you have to drive it like a car. Turn on headlights, use turn signals, etc. I got 2 tickets last year for over loading with too many people and not having lights on during dusk. Barney Fife is watching! Great times and very fun!

Follow the advice here and reserve a dock. I went up a couple times where I got snuffed, then I joined a boat club, problem solved. Better to be safe than stuck floating out in the middle of the lake!

The Casino is first come, first served. You may get lucky and be able to get in there after some of the day-trippers leave, or you may be stuck on the outside, which sucks.

Worst comes to worst, you can drop in anchor in front of Perry's monument at PIB, raft a couple of boats together and party down.

I'm horrible at planning ahead, but luckily I have friends that do so I can usually find a place to raft off.

As has been said the ferry from MBI to PIB isn't that bad, it only takes about 10-15 minutes if that. It's about a 5 minute walk from the ferry to the marina on MBI. PF Walleyes is on the way. Then it drops you off at the Boardwalk on PIB, which is about a block from downtown.

Another option if you miss the last ferry back to MBI from PIB, is there are a few 'charters' that will run back and forth at any hour. Not sure how much they cost, I used to date a girl who's dad did that. His phone would ring all night and he'd run over and pick people up and drop them off at the other islands.

The casino is the first stop for Thunderfest on the 20th, so I am sure they will not be letting any boats inside the wall untill around 11:30 or so.

I would stay over at MBI, in fact I am with all of the other Thunderfest participants. Just my 2 cents.

yea that's pretty much the worst weekend to try and get in anywhere. I usually hit both islands get in and stay in. MB is the best bet for sure. Running the channel to CP at night is pretty much a terrible idea unless you know the area or have a great gps that will show the markers. That wall does not give and takes a few boaters every year.
