PIB for Halloween
 

OK, I know it is a little early, but need to start a new topic and see who is going to PIB for Halloween.

Yup!

I am really trying to shoot for Octoberfest (weekend of 12th). The place where we rack store says the last day to get at our boat is the 15th, as they pack the floor with larger boats on stands (not super thrilled about this arrangement, and I don't remember being told about it when I signed up for 1year of storage). So no Halloween for us.........

Just requested that Saturday off, just hope the weather plays out like it did 2 years ago, sunny and smooth. They key will be figuring away to get up there Friday without running at night.

Keeping our eyes on the skies. If the weather is good, maybe we WILL get our 7th state-boated-in this year...

Or, we might just take Dale and Eileen up on their offer and crash on the cruiser...

Just so you know, it will not be 85 and sunny this weekend. I know how you like warm skirt wearing weather......Just sayin.

Hey, I'll be happy if its like it was for New Years on Oct. 30. The temps would be a bit more SEASONAL.

It can be as cold as it wants. Just sunny with ZERO wind.

And just talked to my boss, the one who pays my salary, should be ok switching some days around to get Friday off as well. :evilb:

Mike, Eileen says come on, she said she im'ed Michelle about coming but had not heard anything back. You can help me wash the boat, that might be the next time we get up there.

There are 3-4 other boats coming too from the marina.

Come on Tim Aka 88bullet. You really don't need to go to new York city that weekend to renew your vows, come to Halloween it will be way better.

Matt, they don't close the lake at dark, you can still boat lol.

So far weather has been consistent for that weekend. Mostly sunny, high of 50, 10%, can't complain about that.

We will be there via Jet Express on Saturday. Which bar is the chosen OSO hangout?

At PIB? Toss up. I'm gonna go to round bar after 9 pm, modern bliss is playing and there pretty entertaining. OSU plays at 8pm and frostys has a bunch a big screens and good pizza so I'll be there to start. Add the boathouse and like I said its a toss up, oh and the beer barrel and mr Eds:evilb:

Forecast for Friday... Get up there as soon as possible. I think a cold front is coming in Saturday so any travels close to Saturday may be interesting. Right they are saying 2-4s growing to 3-5s Friday, Saturday 3-5s growing to 5-?s. Sunday looking better, 2-4s subsiding to 1-3s. We hope to,arrive during the 2-4s.

My concern is just cold weather on the way over.

Dock master said 1-2s tomorrow. I'm good with that. Not even going to look at NOAA.

When does the wind start then?

Big wind starts Friday night. Lasting thru Saturday night, so if your gonna go go before dark.

We made it up Friday around 430, lake was scary looking but water conditions were actually not that bad. Started as less then 2s then 1-3s and finished with 2-4s heading SW into the bay. Had a great time with Dale, RT, and all our significant others Saturday night during the Halloween party. Lake dropped about 2 feet over Friday night, woke up to what felt like a sinking boat. Dock lines had the starboard side held up, that was scary. Water came back up throughout the day. Sunday was beautiful, go figure, no wind, sunny and probably less then 1 footers on the way back. Had a little scare going home with a sticky choke, we shoved off a little sooner then we should of not given the motors a proper time to warm up but after they were happy it was smooth sailing back to muzurick.

We had our truck full with paint, ladders, etc to start our reno on PIB Saturday. The Miller Ferry was not running all day due to low water by their pier. We waited all afternoon but no luck, we missed out on work and then some party fun. Hope you guys had a good time. Going back up this weekend, but it will be a ghost town now til December.

What happens in December?

All the fun spots are closed up for the season after "Halloween" weekend (last weekend). Now thru December 1 ferry service will continue. Once ferry changes to as possible trips Dec 1 the 400 permanent residents are all that is left. When the lake gets ice the only way over is air boat if conditions permit or airplane at $100/each. Not easy to get anything done over there when old man winter creeps in.
