LSC thread

First time out on the water today. Lots of boat traffic, boat ran great with awesome weather..couldn't ask for more. How is everyone else summer starting off?

rfgonzo 05-26-2014 08:34 PM

Pretty sure I came out of the middle channel with you, I was in the Sunsation 288, if that was you your boat sounded good.

mgh 05-26-2014 08:40 PM

Thanks, Yep, that was us leaving browns. Perfect day out

stevewy 05-26-2014 08:50 PM

Spent my day polishing chrome, detailing rub rail, cleaning cabin. I hope to splash Wednesday . I missed a great weekend ---- don't know if we will have another one this nice!

GREAT WEEKEND!!!

The weather, water and being with the family was the best. Boat ran perfect.

However, there were the crazies out there-- I've come to HATE Pontoon boats and some jet skiers. Especially those that are trying to tow water skiers. These pontoon boats are like an aircraft carrier. They can't turn worth snot, loaded to capacity and every time some falls - because most of the time its grandpa with the little grandkids they almost have to circle the globe to pick the little one up. Don't get me wrong, pontoons do have a place on the lake -- but if you are going to go slow -- stay to the side!!!!

Ok I vented

Sunburnt and extremely exhausted today, yep it was a great weekend! Yesterday we went to gull and the water is sooo cold!!! I understand now how people die from hypothermia, that's no joke!!

MGH I think we seen you at Browns you where rafted with a 38 Cigarette both beautiful boats

272lsformula 05-28-2014 02:39 AM

The boats in the picture are a 35 top gun and a 37 active thunder. I was with those two guys and the 38 donzi but i had to get towed back in because I broke a lower shift cable.

mgh 05-28-2014 05:04 AM

We were at browns Monday around 3. My boat is 25 ft, a mini 37. There was a nice maroon outer limits and a few fountains

thirdchildhood 05-28-2014 06:48 AM

I decided to stick with the inland lakes. Was their anything going on at the Moot? Was the water still too cold their too?

rfgonzo 05-28-2014 07:07 AM

I didn't go out to the Moot but had some friends that did. They said the water was cold but people were still in.

mgh 05-28-2014 07:51 PM

Upcoming weather looks promising, Thurs/Fri/Sat upper 70s, Sunday 86

Just flatout brutal!

We went to the Moot last Sunday. It seemed to start a little slow. We got there at noon and there were a couple dozen boats just anchored around. Around 1 a decent line got going and we ended up having a blast. The water was chilly, but we walked around in the water for a while and no one was too cold to have fun.

Overall, Ive had a blast on the lake so far. This is my first year boating so Im still trying to figure out the lake, but so far so good! (Except for dragging the outdrive up the boat ramp the very first time out. Smh.)

Be careful out there. Stay in the channels and beware of Sand Island. At least most of the bottom is muck or sand.

rfgonzo 06-04-2014 06:37 PM

The Moot usually gets going around 1 or 1:30PM and like thirdchildhood said watch out for shallow water.

And here we thought we would be late to the party. I followed a boat in from Metro Beach direction since I wasnt too sure about things. Thanks guys Ill keep my eyes peeled out there.

12meter joe 06-04-2014 07:39 PM

You will love LSC boating! So many places to go to relax, party, or go out for some food. The water level is up from last year so going to or from the moot is fairly safe from any direction this season but, it's wise to get to know where sand island is for when levels are lower. The safest way is line up the old light houses and head straight in, it might take a little longer depending on which way you're coming but it's worry free. Hope you have a blast! See you at the moot!

I launch from 9 mile. I headed straight up the lake towards Metro until I saw someone heading that way and followed them in. Thats exactly how they came into the Moot, so that is what Ill do from now on. Thanks!

12meter joe 06-04-2014 07:51 PM

Where did you boat before? Or are you new to boating altogether?

DanG28 06-04-2014 07:56 PM

New to boating all together. Bought my first boat in late October so this is my first season out there. My Dad grew up boating on LSC so he went out with me twice to poke around, but he hasn't been out there since the early 90's so he was afraid that a lot has changed since then.

thirdchildhood 06-04-2014 08:36 PM

It does change. Here is a cool interactive chart. You do have a chartplotter don't you? http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/14850.shtml

12meter joe 06-04-2014 08:46 PM

Yea I grew up boating the lake. Some changes but mostly just because the water level being a bit low but, like I said its near average now. The moot is my favorite place to go, we usually go Saturday and Sunday. They party Sunday like its Saturday out there lol. Saturday we usually hit Browns resteruant for a burger and cold one after the moot. Also, there is a new owner at Bumpers Landing next to Crews inn. They redid all the docks, deck, and have awesome food! Last weekend we went there after the moot around 7pm and left at 130am! Band was rocking and the girls were dancing! Blast!

I have no chart plotter :/ but that is next on the list of things to buy. I have a depth chart that Ive studied a bit and so far Ive just stuck to the areas that seem to be pretty safe judging from the chart.

Very cool. We will have to check out Bumpers Landing sometime soon.
