Default Huge thanks to US Coast Guard??

My GF and I put in at Muzurik boat launch up near Marblehead on Sunday and I noticed 2 guys dress in full camo getting ready to drop a US coast guard boat in the water. I didn't think anything of it just went about our business and went up to PIB for the night. The next day we hung out on the island and decided to head back when we noticed the forecast looking a bit iffy. So we un hooked around 4 pm and basically had to bury the sticks because it looked that nasty out. Not big water yet but it was calm enough to get on it and knowing it was going to get worse didn't sit so well. About the time we got to muzurik the wind just came out of know where and they safest place to dock would of been between the 2 floaters but go figure it had boats loading. The far dock which would of blocked wind and waves was open but I could get the boat close enough to tie up or jump off as the wind was pushing us away so my only shot was the first set of docks where the wind would push the boat towards the docks. At this point I didn't care I just wanted the boat tied up while the stormed passed. I had one shot and was really hoping somebody would come and help. Just as I was thinking it I notice a guy in camo run down from a US coast guard boat sitting on a trailer being towed by the same truck as the day before. He ran down the dock, we threw him the line and he helped bring us in slowly since the wind was pushing the boat hard. We threw out some fenders and tied up. I didn't get to catch his name just got time to so thanks a million and he took off. If anyone knows who it was let him know we owe him a cold one and I ride on our boat anytime. It may have been ugly if he wasn't there.

The brunt of the storm lasted about 15 mins. The opening to the launch faces west and that's where the wind was coming from so we had a few descent rollers come right in and hit the boat. We had enough fenders out that we didn't take any damage, after it calmed a bit we loaded it up and headed home.

Great weekend, exciting ending.

I saw those same guys last Saturday. There were two boats / crews and they were all wearing Camo, not their coast guard blues. Funny thing is, I launched the same time they did , and none of them were wearing PFD's. They told me they had a crew up from form paris island NC, and they were conducting training exercises. They were also traveling with a group of 5 humvee's.

I missed that, these guys just had a F350, just 2 guys and I don't remember seeing PFD's either, but hey who am I to give them crap. I'm surprised they didn't stop me just for chits and giggles.

Were you at PIB at all Sunday? I saw either a 382 or 353 tied up on B dock around 5ish
