If you want to bring it over the border, you can go to Excel on Grand Island. The exchange rate won't help, however.

Whatever you do, make sure you have somebody GOOD do it, when they are NOT in a hurry and pay them what they want.

I had a local guy do a skeg repair for me, he came recommended, I payed what he asked, even gave hi a nice tip for getting it done on time.

Within 15 minutes the new genuine merc skeg that he welded on peeled off right along the weld, destroying the nice shiny stainless prop taking a sizeable chunk out of the cavitation plate, twisting the prop shaft and cracking the bullet. So my 150 dollar skeg fix cost a lot more by the time is was said and done.....

Learn from my pain.

^^^ this is why I recommended United... A client tore the skeg clean off the drive.. had it repaired/ replaced full skeg and a week or two later, let the boat bob up and down in the waves on a rock for the weekend. The rock took out a crescent shape out of the bottom of the skeg and folded the stainless blade on the prop.

If the weld replacing the entire skeg was in the slightest bit weak - that skeg should have snapped clean off the drive....+ their prop work is the best in Ontario IMHO
