Looking to do a Lake Huron trip in late August, my son lives in Canton so I'm thinking Port Huron area. I have no experience with marinas or Lake Huron, spent five years boating out of Grand Haven on the west side of the state. Any recommendations on a marina with a ramp and possible trailer/boat storage for about week? Marinas or fun places to visit within an hour of launch point? Will be brining our 32' Sunsation SSR.

There's harbor of refuge marinas along the coast headed north. Most of the towns are quieter than those on Lake Michigan. We used to spend weekends in Port Sanilac and weeks at Harrisville.

Lexington is a fun port to stop at. It's about 20 miles north of Port Huron. Close walk to town to restaurants and bars. It's a nice marina. Kind of quiet during the week, but things to do. You could also boat down to lake St. Clair. It's not far and always a lot going on.

Sunsation is having their Sun Run and street show August 3,4 and raft off on the 5th in Lake St.Clair. It's been several years since I've launched out of Port Huron, but IIRC there is a launch up the river and several marinas on the way out to the lake.
