Speed Questions sr24

What speeds are you getting with what horsepower?
My gps says 119 with a 572sc (941hp....with meth injection)
Is this off in your opinion? I dont wanna be called a liar over gps readings so any info would be appreciated btw.......i have no idea what gear ratio my drive is (teague platinuim) spinning a 27 5 blade ive heard this is a horrible prop for this boat so any info on that would be great :readinghelp::readinghelp:

dennis r 08-06-2010 09:42 PM

I had 830 hp with a 30 pitch bravo 1 prop 1.5 ratio and it did 105 mph.at 6300 rpm

firehawkcat 08-06-2010 10:14 PM

I believe the gear ratio on the xr is changed in the lower

dennis r 08-07-2010 09:53 PM

Yes it is changed in the lower

Catss 08-10-2010 12:51 PM

I responded to your other post if the 119 is on gps thats a great number, with 920hp and 940tq 1.36 gears at 5600rpm I am consistent 115 best 117 with 2 people 2000 SR with a imco drive. I have to look back at my notes but I was thinking you needed around 1000hp to hit 120, not sure of the meth impact I am only running 7.5lbs of boost. I do have meth on one of my snowmobiles but thats running 28lbs
Robb
p.s. I have tried lots of props even a 5 blade herring which was terrible on the top end....in any case your boat is flying

youngerandfastr 08-10-2010 06:58 PM

Ive been very lucky with this boat it runs amazing safe for my wife and daughter and it will run with the big boys I really want too run arneson conversion and whipple upgrade

HI sorry I don't get on the site too often so it delays my responses...send me your email address and I will forward you some pics of my boat, motor etc. These hulls love horsepower as you can tell, whipples are awesome, I am not aware of anyone putting an arneson on them.

There are two of them out there. One was in Colorado and the other in AZ.

Catss 08-17-2010 09:26 AM

Thanks for the clarification, I was unaware. How did they work out? I know mine is very senstive to X dimension and when I tried raising the drive it didn't work out as it was already pretty high.

Thanks for all the info fellas. Sry I haven't got on I just got back from the emerald coast poker run. It a very fun run but it was a mess as far as organization.....only two boats left at a time and they paired a 35 fountain to leave with bill pyburns 388 skater with twin 1350 chief .......and I get stuck with a 45 sonic with triples so he beats me on a plane then I get his wake for about five mins til i could pass him after that it was a very adrenaline filled run ram with boat I could never afford and I put a new poultry on and changed the jets got too 121 passing destin pier.

obsessed1 08-18-2010 01:49 PM

Why did you remove it? What kind of power and what speeds were you seeing? How was it trying to prop the boat? Thanks

Rik 08-18-2010 01:51 PM

boataholic1 08-18-2010 06:14 PM

X-dimensions

Just bought a new hull- totally empty.
Some input on the power:
Donovan 11.1 block- 600inches- 4.5x4.630- 7.5 oliver rods.
Crower crank- Olds mains, Olds center thrust, Chevy seals and rods.
357CNC heads
Solid roller. PSI Blower on a custom manifold running 15-18psi. Mechanical andEFI injection. 24EFI injectors and 2 mechanicals. Custom IAC running below the blower. PSI hat.

Interested to hear more about the Arneson- who's trans? Downside.

Interested in X dimension and boats response to set backs. Not so much for speed but for stability at top end.

:eekdrop: Thats a lot of motor ! Any reason your not going the #6 way ?

I have a SR24 with Bmax and 800HP now ,my plan is to convert next year to a twin turbo engine with aprox +1200 hp .
I am thinking about switching to a #6 drive .

The Bmax possibly can handle big horsepower ,but the #6 would be a good insurance

Post pics please

I wonder what the balance will be with that #6 hanging off the back. Dont know if I ever seen a HTM with a 6

I think the biggest issue would be moving the engine far enough forward to make room for the trans.

It would be aprox in the same position as it is now if I use a NXT transom with NXT trans ,and a #6 drive .

If I remove the blower engine ,there is +- 4 inch extra room to go a little forward by getting rid of the blower pulley /spacer ,and switching to a turbo engine .

Think when going to a #6 transom and Bam /cyborg type trans ,the rear seat needs to go another 8 inch forward ,all could be done ,but have to make some mods to my rear seat .

There was a SR 24 with a #6 long time ago ,it can be seen on youtube at HTM SR 24 boatloversonly I believe in the intro .

I have no idea what the boat will do with the added weight of the #6 and the heavier transom and trannie ,but with the #6 ,there is only choice in cleaver style transom lifting props ,and by the added power from the turbo engine ,I was hoping the hydrodynamics of the hull would lift enough to fly the boat ...
