39 With Deisal's
Did they run her yet ?
any speed #s mike |
Mike,
The 39 Diesel Rockit has not run yet as they are Prototype 6.7 Liter Cummins-Mercruiser Diesel motors. We are doing all the testing for Cummins-Mercruiser on these motors and hoping to run the boat within the next few months. Hustler and CMD estimate the speed between 90 to 100mph. Stay tuned for data of the boat running as it will be posted online as soon as we test the boat. Paul LoGiudice VP of Sales and Marketing Hustler Powerboats |

i think those 6.7 l motor's are the same as the FPT 560 hp motor's , if so they should run good :)
mike on the FPT bore x stroke : 104 mm x 132 mm ,blocks look identical ,makes you think FPT only buys a bare block&head, but it could be they ordered this at Cummins ..who,knows ? |

I'm interested in seeing some real data on speed and acceleration along with mpg
|
Any new news on the diesel Rockit? Has it been run yet? I think its a great project.
|
Bondo,
We have not tested the boat yet, but it will be completed in the next 2 to 3 weeks. We will be announcing the results on Facebook and Twitter so stay tuned for that! Paul LoGiudice VP of Sales and Marketing Hustler Powerboats |

any new's on the test run thank's mike We just completed our first phase of testing the 39 Diesel Rockit as we hit 84 mph with motors that are rated between 460 to 480 HP. These motors will be replaced with motors that are rated between 500 to 550 HP. You can read a bit more about it in our press release as we also have a picture of the boat running here: http://hustlerpowerboats.wordpress.c...diesel-rockit/ Paul |

Sweet looking boat also. Dean |
Great numbers!
|
Excellent and congrats! What a great setup...
|
nice work
|
that's a BAD AZZ setup!
what are fuel numbers? any data on that yet? |
Joe and Paul.. first off..georgeous boat..best looking and running 39 out there. The 550hp diesels..is it the same block slightly turned up..or is it an entirely different motor. Secondly, have you thought about some Yanmars and Asd-8's..or even the light weight diesel that OL did..I just cant remember the name of that diesel.. Thanks Jeff.

I think this was a partnership between Hustler and Merc, hence the choice of engines and drives. I have to agree though, Yanmars and Asd-8's would make for another nice combination! Great looking boat though.... |
Jeff,
To answer your question, they are the same block, just slightly tuned up. The Yanmar/ASD package is durable, would consider doing it if we had a customer interested in building one. Paul |
Mwdill,
We do not have any fuel numbers yet as we are focusing on the performance of the boat right now. The next time we take the boat out, we will get some MPG numbers at each RPM level to give us a general idea of what we are burning. Paul |
Im anxious to hear what the 500-550 hp version will do. 84mph is strong..but +90 is awesome.

Ok. Belive you. The Italians told me that they made the 6,7 baseengine for Cummins...
Perhaps Cummins could jump in and give some information? |
We are currently working with the Cummins people right now to get the correct answer for all this information. In the meantime, the 39 Diesel Rockit Video is up on YouTube. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/HustlerP...s?feature=mhee
More detailed data is coming soon. Paul LoGiudice VP of Sales and Marketing Hustler Powerboats [email protected] |

Diesel Rockit Update
Hello All,
We put new props onto the Diesel Rockit, and the boat picked up 2 mph. With a top speed of 85 mph, we are very sure with the addition of 140 hp (70 hp per motor) that the boat will see the low 90's with the new 6.7 liter, 550 hp Cummins-Mercruiser motors will make the boat a low 90 mph boat. We will be posting up the fuel burn numbers at differen RPM levels within the next week. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks! Paul |

also, how are the acceleration numbers? or are you just taking it easy right now?
thanks, Will |
hi guys, i've not posted in a blog room for probably 5 years...thanks for letting me post in your blog..
i'm a sunny owner looking to move to the 36 to 39 range now.. i have to say..this is so exciting..as a turbo diesel lover in trucks... i cant wait to see how this all pans out. does hustler do any mid cabin open bow boats? i've never considered hustler..in the past..as i love the mcob layout in the 32 sunsation..i'm looking to move up and was thinking of the 36 mcob sunsation..now i want this dam twin TD hustler ... my guess is that the fuel economy is gonna be much, much, much better than twin supercharged bb gassers. be well, keith |
Interesting thread.
I'd sure like more info on these higher HP merc diesels for a single engine project in the future. I've read up on Seatech's but Merc dealer support would be very nice to rely on. |
