The Hustler that broke the 100MPH mark had 650hp. motors and the best the factory could get out of it was 106 mph according to "Powerboat" This hull with 900hp's hit 117mph, @ 600 rpm below redline. These engines are not super charged, blower, nor turbocharged, just carburetors, built by Talon Marine in Landover,MD

hey katabatic hows yours handle at speed i usually run out of handling before motors

Yes it is, how have you been? So, after you grow up you get rid of the little Hustler and get a 46' Skater with turbines? Boy I can't wait to grow up!

:drink: Things are going great. Grow up.......No way.
Your boat looks great!!

When I first got mine it ran around 100. With 650 hp 540,s
then i put these in at 900. ran 117

You had to set the hull.If you just whacked the throttles it would
chine walk around 90. Right at that moment you bring the throttles back and then push them forward. Then she would track very well.

With the second effort/ Arneson drives it rode best at 0 positive trim.
With a straight edge I marked neutral on the indicators.

I should have kept her. Great times!

Are the hulls a bit different if they came from hustler with surface drives? Do they still have a notched transom like the B1's on do they modify them for the surface drives?

Totally different.....

bulletbob 01-27-2012 07:42 AM

There was a red 26' or 28' model with arnesons and small blocks for sale yrs ago (5 maybe). I wish I had picked it up. Anyone now how the small boats handled with arnesons and what kind of speeds with small blocks? I don't know why everyone with big power isn't running surface drives. I would have guessed with the amt. of money some invest in big power that a bullet proof drive would be on the list. I do know how expensive the asds' are. Just inquiring.

What are the differences I'm seriously considering surface drives for mine I love my boat and have come to the realization that I would have to spend a lot of money to buy a different hull that would outperform what I have the arnesons are out of the price range but those new imcos seem really do able I'm already semi surfacing my bravos and have broken both of them once in the 60 hrs I've put on the hull
